Re: What did you do on your 510 today?

I bought a new O2 sensor (narrow band) spliced on the connector for the AutoMeter gauge and welded on a bung. I'll invest in the wide band eventually when I finally switch to EFI.

Re: Changing my cars attitude

This is considered a winter tire, but for $80/per the tread pattern looks pretty good for all around beating in 185/65/14: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/BigPic.jsp?tireMake=Cooper&tireModel=Evolution+Winter&partnum=865TR4EVW&GCID=C13674x012-tire&KEYWORD=tires.jsp_Cooper_Evolution_Winter_Tire&code=y...

Re: Changing my cars attitude

Thanks for the pic Robyn, good to see some real world experience with it. I saw it on tirerack but didn't know how the sizing would equate and it looks like it is way too big for rolled fenders and 6" wheels. I like that Maxxis Byron....of course it is the most expensive option, but it seems like it...

Changing my cars attitude

As half of the driving here in Vermont is on dirt roads and my front sump FJ20''s pan sits about 3" off the ground, I am thinking about raising the car up and a tire change. Can someone suggest an all terrain on/off road tire that would mate well with 14" x 6" Libras? I would think I could get away ...

Re: Swamp thing, from drift car to Endure car

Hard to tell from the pics Jeff, but that looks like one of the nicest mixed media patinas I have seen! It's been about every color at one time or another. We actaully want to paint it. It was fun the first year having a ratty car. We want a cool race paint job now. Nice, I like the 620 support veh...

Maybe I just need a louder muffler, or none. That always makes them feel faster :)
That and the floor pans being 3" off the ground. I picked up my kids from school yesterday in the 510 (usually a 97 Ford Powerstroke) they thought I was doing 70 when I was doing 40.

Crazy!! That much cash and you gotta deal with a L series (never fast, unless turboed) carbs and a steering box.... :) I bet the seller is doing the happy dance!
Anyone know the happy seller here?

Re: Weber tuning Ka stuff

My experience with racing and with my FJ20 is that they do like to run on the rich side. Definitely play with the color tune, it's pretty cool but it will make you get into your jet collection.

Re: Weber tuning Ka stuff

Check into a gunson colortune. I’m pretty sure that’s what defdes is referring to. It should get you close. Yep. Just follow the directions, disconnect your throttle cable and dial the main mixture screws in until seated then out 1 1/2-2 full turns and see where that gets you to start. The Unisyn f...

Re: Weber tuning Ka stuff

There are some very good base line tuning/syncing write ups on Ratsun and maybe here too. You need a Unisyn for sure and the color tune plug reader is handy, or even better a wideband AF gauge. But find a write up, they might have it on the redline site too, syncing is KEY to proper function.

Re: Mikuni Rebuild Schedule?

When I seasonally park it, I do seal the tailpipe from moisture and rodentia but once it's out I don't.
I hear you on the FI set up, after body work and a respray, it's first on the list.

Re: Mikuni Rebuild Schedule?

Yes, the car can sit and did last summer, more than it was driven. I have some rocker rust and faulty horn that didn't allow it to get inspected. I know about the fuel drain, but I don't do it every time and didn't before putting it away this last time either. I am going to get it out this weekend a...

Re: Mikuni Rebuild Schedule?

Thanks Duke, I have a crank fire Electromotive ignition, and unless it's the plug wires (haven't replaced those in about 10 years) I don't know what else it could be. The way it ultimately cleared itself, lead me to think it was fuel.....that or an exhaust obstruction which given the number of critt...
