Super Surgeon. Really nice work. That Wurth product is interesting, I had never heard of it.
See your project is inspiring me for restoration #2 of my car which is starting to need it badly.

Try bringatrailer.com, I have never seen that vintage for sale there, but it might be worth a try.

Re: Seven year absence..

Welcome back, looks real nice. I built mine 16 years ago and it's ready for it's second restoration. If I could only find the time....or the cash.

Re: R160 Diff ID

If highway cruising is not your want, you'll be better off with a 4:11(or lower), I have the 3:9 in my FJ20 and I am passively looking for a 4:11.

It's been a while since I have had mine opened, but looks like a 3:9 clutch pack.

Under "Compartmented Boxes" version "N" looks like it could be the one I have, it has the same 36 compartments.

Here's mine, I can't remember where I got the box from, likely a small hardware store.

Re: de-tuning a race engine

Like our buddy Hienz says "A guy will post a picture of a 510 lug nut he got for free and spend a zillion dollars building the car around a free lug nut instead of waiting for a nice car to come up for sale at a fraction of what he will have into that lug nut." Hienz says it better! Hey Jeff this i...

Re: How much does it weigh?

Added NA SR and FJ20ET conclusion. L motor and SR weigh about the same and I'm surprised the FJ isn't that much heavier then the SR turbo. The FJ still had the power steering pump and some plumbing. Didn't have time to pull it and re install. The factory FJ flywheel is LIGHT! When I built my FJ20 I...

Re: Fred's 73 2dr 510

Looks like a nice project. When I cut the tranny tunnel for my KA box, I did it nice and tight like yours, I ultimately had to open it up more due to an awful vibration it made against the tunnel at low rpms.

Given your location, Dave at Futofab in Dunbarton, NH might be a better option.

Re: 72' 510 Horn Wiring / Momo Corse Wheel Assy

Thanks, I have yet to tear into it, I have one of the Grant "no wheel no steal" hubs and steering wheel. It did work at one time so I am fairly sure that that brass contact is still under there. there is likely an issue in the contact from the Grant piece to it.

Re: 72' 510 Horn Wiring / Momo Corse Wheel Assy

Thanks for the clear description above Ted. I have had intermittent horn on all the time/on when it should be/off all the time problems since I built my car 16 years ago. It is in the latter condition now and all that stands between me an state inspection, this should help a great deal.

Thanks, yeah I got only 3 years out of this one....very disappointing given the cost.
