Re: Qr25 Datsun 510 build from the beginning.
. My first order of business was of course to take it all apart and see what I have bought. There was quite a bit of rust, the body was looking pretty nice from a distance. But up close you could see parts where the paint was bubbling showing somthing was hiding below. Some parts on the roof had som...

Qr25 Datsun 510 build from the beginning.
Hi all. Just wanted to start working on posting my datsun 510 build from the beginning. I have some of it already for the qr25 motor swap, but wanted to make a new one and keep it a lot more organized and hopfully fun to view. Well it all started back in 2007. I had just gotten my license and had be...

Re: Qr25de swap
Another update. The new trans and Jim wolf tech flywheel are doing great. Rack and pinion also holding up nicley.
Finally got some progress on the cv conversion.
Ended up making my own axle. Pine sure is great stuff. I think if I go easy on the gas should last last till the termites get it.

Re: Qr25de swap
Yeah the new trans is scary how big it is i was worried it wouldn't fit. But its actually 4 inches shorter than the z31 so the tunnel just required a new hole and a little massaging and i was done. Ive been wanting to do a rack so for a while i did lots of research on the idea of a rack and pinion i...

Re: Qr25de swap
Hi guys just an update. Been a little while but ive been busy. I was able to find a 2007 nissan frontier trans at the junk yard finally. (The one that bolts up to the qr25) also was able to be the test ginny pig for jim wolf tech and their new lightened flywheel for the frontier qr25. The new tranny...

Re: Qr25de swap
Hi guys. Been a while, so my most recent project on the car is putting cv axles in. Im going to use the axles from the 2007 subaru wrx. ( same as the diff i have ) so the idea is that the cv on the wheel side ill have it machined down so it will fit in the hub on where the normal axles will bolt up ...

Re: Qr25de swap
im not sure of the year they started, but I've found that rock auto.com is a great resource for research like this cuz you can look up the part and they have a picture of almost all the parts, very helpful in doing my swap so far. so the half shafts don't bolt in but instead what i did is in the pic...

Re: Qr25de swap
Are you thinking of the older vlsd that has alonger tip on one side? Because this subaru diff dosent have that, both half shafts are the same length. And it does still work as a vlsd. I've jacked up the back and done the wheel spin test, it's not an open diff. Hopfully those pictures help you unders...

Re: Qr25de swap
So just an update to my progress. The cars still running great. I've since gotten a r160 vlsd from a 2007 subaru wrx its a nice improvement over the stock open diff. So what i did was cut the tip off of the subaru half shafts and drilled and tapped it so it can be bolted to the end of the stock dats...

Re: rebuilding half-shafts?
Hi sorry to change subject but does anyone know the spline count on the part that the half shafts bolts upto on the wheel side. It's held on with that big retaining nut. It's part number 46 according to the image OKAYFINE posted on page one of this thread. Not sure what its called. Thanks in advance.
