Re: L18 Vacuum Question

Re: Firewall/Cowl geometry question

that be the center drain for the cowl.it is on all years and all models of 510s. it is prone to plugging and sometimes it needs to be removed during restoration if rust is found in the cowl or center drain. I had to do it on 6inches of rust . I would share a link but I hosted the pics on photo bucket

Re: 5spd Transmission grinding and rebuild questions

only my subaru transmission gets gets gear oil and thats because it has a differential in it . if my manual boxes had pumps and a filter they would all live on atf. what surprised me the most when I got off the 80/90 besides the instant smooth shifts was the noticeable increase in fuel economy when ...

Re: 5spd Transmission grinding and rebuild questions

I run atf in all my boxes for at least 1500km to clean out any additives that may have been used throughout its life. I am a fan of the chevron 50w synthetic trans oil 200ca for 5gal.

Re: 5spd Transmission grinding and rebuild questions

yup sounds like worn synchros but it could be additives causing the clash. drain out the gl4 and run ATF to wash out any ptfes, molly .....

I think the bolt needs to be fully removed.

and get that intermittent "air bleed" from the kinked pcv hose sorted as it is contributing to the wondering numbers your seeing on your a/f gauge http://www.agcoauto.com/content/images/engine/pcv_system_valve_operation.jpg crank case gasses added to the a/f mixture help with propagation of a turbul...

Re: Need help tuning L20 -running too lean on throttle

the 1/8th brass pipe plug under the carb would work as well as the 1/8th plug on the rear runners will work. it looks like your pcv hose could be prone to kinking as the heat from the exhaust warms the hose giving you an intermittent air bleed. just find the max start at zero and rev past 2500 wile ...

Re: Need help tuning L20 -running too lean on throttle

at the carb is the tuned vacuum port . you will need to take your readings off the manifold. I would go with the zero number. maybe verify with a standard light. but its probably the indicator or sticker is in the wrong place. did you find out how much advance you get out of the weights is in the di...
