Re: Return for a ka24de swap

funny you ask that. We had a original 240z pump for a few years until we raced Portland and it decided to die. We tried a few different pumps and they all failed including a high dollar I think Holley pump. It said in the instructions "don't run it dry" which is basically what our racecar ...

kick ass looking. It's funny to dial in a car for a long time, then get a project 510 and take it for the first test ride. All I can think is "wow this is a long ways off from being a fun rig." haha.

Re: Return for a ka24de swap

I’m less concerned with the gas smell and more concerned with functionality, so I guess I can tackle that later. Ha. Everywhere I’ve looked, it looks like people just run a high-pressure in-line fuel pump for the swap. I haven’t seen discussion of any other option really. What did you do? Or sugges...

Re: Return for a ka24de swap

There are 2 fuel tank lines coming out of the tank on the bottom facing the back seat. 5/16" is return and 1/4" is feed. Not sure why it's done that way but it is. If you use either to feed a high pressure pump you will have fuel starving issues at 5/8 of a tank of fuel. There are many way...

Re: Am I in over my head? '70 2 door from scratch

Careful when redoing all the plumbing under the intake manifold on the SR. I deleted a bunch of that stuff on a KA once and it would overheat. There is a bypass that has to be hooked up, I think it cycles the water through the engine and around the thermostat, once it's warm enough the thermostat op...

Re: SR/KA Mounts by Mckinney

Yes, although the engine sits to far forward it will work. Most guys just send it as is. If I was to do another KA build I would make mounts to move the engine back a bit.

Re: Welp.... With the price of SR's I've went to the dark side......

Yeah the RX8 first gen trans is also Aisin which is the same as the S15 Spec R 6 speed. They did change the reverse gear design slightly. At one time we had all 3 apart on the work bench. We were trying to swap the parts into the s15 housing. But it wasn't as easy as that. Due to slight differences.

Re: supercharged KA24E?

Dang I've been trying to write back but when I go on at lunch time at work the site breaks down..... anyways. Mike: Then only spec I know is that it's off an 2002 Xterra. My guess is I will get around 10PSI of boost on the KA Max. Keith: I'm putting it on a D21 I daily drive lately. So not an exciti...

supercharged KA24E?

The more projects the better in my book :) I got my kid a 96 D21 while I hunted for a cheap daily for her. I found a newish VW GTI. Now I have the D21 back. It's a beater and I just love driving it around. Don't have to care about scratches or anyone messing with it. If it had a LSD and about 80 mor...
