Re: Autocross Alignment Specs

Dang and 3.5 gears. I listened to Keith and swapped to 4.44's in my car. So much better at the track. I actually still want a close ratio trans though. 3rd is to tall still. I'm curious to hear how your car does.

Re: Water flow through the L series heads

I wonder if they flow the water top to bottom? It would be nice to send the cool water through the head first the help prevent detonation. I've thought about that with my SR's. I'm not much of a motor guy though.

Re: Autocross Alignment Specs

You gotta get smaller tires. Those are massive. Your gearing has to be crazy tall.

CV axles. Adapters are dumb. Gotta be a better way

So I'd like to share my idea. Maybe someone has done it before. Seems most good ideas aren't new. So here is what I had in mine. First picture. Nissan 4X4 stub axle out of an R180 which will also fit a R160. On top is a VW CV axle, a type 2 or whatever comes on these kits we install into our 510's. ...

Re: Autocross Alignment Specs

So could you guys run a little more caster to get away from so much static camber? My BMW buddies run more caster then stock, they basically max it out. Steering effort would go up for sure, I personally want to try electric power.

Re: Autocross Alignment Specs

Keith, I only mentioned what I did and used Frank as an example because what people say they want and what they really want is sometimes way way different haha. Turns out when Frank says he want to "race" that doesn't mean come to the track, it actually means downshift on the freeway. Whic...

More updates. We just made a new version. You can check out the details on the sight. JBcoachwerks.com for those of you who are new. For fun here are some photo's of the sheet metal parts coming in and being put together. https://i.imgur.com/1DzKmbF.jpg https://i.imgur.com/sODMoJj.jpg https://i.imgu...

Re: Autocross Alignment Specs

I agree with everything Keith says. The only thing I'm going to add is. Don't get to crazy with front toe out, unless you plan on tons and tons of autoxing I would stick with zero to a touch of toe in. Same with the rear. Don't go crazy on rear toe in unless you plan on it being a dry day autox car....

Re: Rack And Pinion exploration

over the T/C bar? that's interesting. The problem with the setup shown in cobwebs is that the sway bar end-links attach to the lower control arm from below, and end up hanging quite low. 13" rims are an issue if you get a flat tire. The best thing about being able to model it is the "I wo...

Re: Rack And Pinion exploration

Definitely nothing new under then sun! We are wanting to go over the TC rod though. My buddy used a 620 torsion bar. Called it farm fab.

Re: Rack And Pinion exploration

Byron, I've had the same thought, full lock it could hit the sway bar arm depending on the ride hieght of the car. My car currently hits the orange line bar at full lock. So nothing would change on my car. That said I only use full lock for parking and the sometimes overdone drifting while autoxing ...

Re: Rack And Pinion exploration

Any TC rod and lower control arm can be made to work. Some aren't a gimmy though. Sam used stock TC rods, he cut two inches out, then sleeved them and welded them back together. He wanted mega caster haha. The only sway bar I know that works is the old DGR fab bar, the datsport might but I'm not su...

Re: 1971 2 Door, L16 --> 2.1 Long Rod --> SR20VE

Like Byron said, take out that battery tray dent. Frank was doing doughnuts at full lock, it heated up his paint and popped it off, the battery tray dent is just far enough where depending on ride height the tire can hit it. Wasn't going to but that definitely swayed me Haha, guess there's no bette...

Re: Rack And Pinion exploration

Duke I thought of a way to get 13" wheels on your car. You can adjust your bump steer using the spherical bearing under your strut (where the old ball joint was) instead of spacing the out tie rod. The only worry is that it may need to be spaced the way you can't go. I tried to go back and loo...
