Cat, Cummins and Detroits. Mostly in the Cummins QSK's. They had a problem with a batch of them a few years ago.Byron510 wrote:We talking Cat motors there? That's my territory as well -BIG!tatange wrote:Up at the mine they call them "windows". I've seen more than a few in V16 diesels

Re: Odd electrical puzzle
Check the wire going to the socket. If it is almost worn through, or near broken, like one strand left, it likely wont allow enough current through to power the bulb, and the voltage drop will be at the point of the break. You say the case of the socket is well grounded, but try attaching a wire fro...

Re: Odd electrical puzzle
Take your alligator leads, one from the hot to the center pin on the bulb, and the other to the outside or ground of the bulb and ground the other end of it. Check voltage on both alligator leads.
I'm thinking like the others, bad ground.

Re: CA20E VS Z22E
Thanks. The NAPS in my 510 in in good shape, likely better than the CA. What I may gain from the CA swap would be a better tranny. I'm led to believe that the CA would have an overdrive tranny where my Z20 is just a 3 speed.

Re: CA20E VS Z22E
What I'm wondering is, can I put the CA head and injection on my NAPS block, or would it be better to stick with the carb? CA head won't fit. Are you just looking for EFI, or is there something else wrong with your current engine? If you already have a NAPS engine, would seem to me to be easier to ...

CA20E VS Z22E
I'm new to the whole Datsun thing, but I'm learning more all the time. I've been doing alot of reading since I got my hl510, and am slowly getting a handle on things. I was at a junkyard today and saw an 85 200SX. It has dual plugs and Fuel injection. When I first saw it, I was thinking Z22E, becaus...

Re: My Intro
Yea, you're a little older than I am. I remember a yellow '57, and Norms Black '48. I also remember his Vega, and the 14 inch wide patches he left on the bridge. Last time I talked to him, he was running 7.70's in an Econo Rail. We must know quite a few of the same guys around here. I can't remember...
