Re: Oil pump drive worm gear orientation?

Thanks for the help guys. 8) I pulled the front cover seal out and pulled the gear and had indeed installed it with the chamfer towards the crank pulley. I have the later style worm gear as depicted in Chickenman's post above and not the one in the photo in my original post. I did not notice any cha...

Oil pump drive worm gear orientation?

Hi guys, Can anybody here confirm which way around the worm gear must be installed on the crank? I have recently built my L18 and have started worrying that I have installed the worm gear the wrong way around on the crank. All of my FSM's do not specify the orientation of the gear sufficiently, and ...

Re: Transmission I.D Help please

I wondered the same thing Julian. Very odd, although they are close to the 64 and 65 1500 Roadster boxes, so probably why they were similar. These boxes go behind the E-1 motor if I am not mistaken. The 411 boxes look almost like our 510 boxes that were behind the R16 motors.

Re: Transmission I.D Help please

I believe they are PL410 4 speed boxes. Found a service manual on www.datsun510.com that show a box that looks very similar with the starter on the same side of the bellhousing.

Transmission I.D Help please

Hi guys, I have 3 of the following transmissions but have no idea what they are from. Originally thought SP310 1500 Roadsters, but it seems the starter sits on the incorrect side. Anyone have any ideas at all? :?: Regards Jared http://i1057.photobucket.com/albums/t387/datsunsss/20160307_082506_zpsgm...

Re: Metal L ser. head gasket from Kamerai usa

Keith, That is pretty impressive to say the least! I was at least expecting some sort of metal gasket, but hey, if it works, it works eh? :P If I go by what you say regarding not expecting more from the motor than what it was designed for, 16psi will not be a problem for the L18 block given ...

Re: Metal L ser. head gasket from Kamerai usa

If you are serious about your turbo project..."O" ring the block. Zero problems after that, you will never lose a head gasket. I have put over 13 years on one competition motor, nada gasket problems. Hi Keith, What brand head gasket do you use? I am planning on building an L18 EFI Turbo s...

Re: camshafts

I must agree with Keith and Byron, do not over cam your engine . When I first started playing around with my SSS's motor, I immediately dropped my fathers 280deg, 11.9mm lift rally cam in, thinking it would make my car really quick! It was very lively above 3500rpm and would pull really hard, but be...

Re: To stretch or not to stretch

I would say Diamond Racing Wheels would be the place to go for proper wide steelies. They do any width, offset and PCD in sizes from 13 inch to 18 inch... Plus they look good too! I am planning on running 15x9 -20 on the front and 15x10 -45 on the rear of my Bluebird Coupe, naturally with flares. :t...

Scott,

Those rear arms are just amazing! Great work man! Hopefully one day I will be able to TIG weld like you do... 8)

Made any progress on the car as of late?

Re: What is an L20S?

The whole L20B / L20S debacle has befuddled alot of guys over here in South Africa as well... I have a Z22S block as well and they are pretty much identical, including the casting on the side of the block in the middle where they both have their engine numbers stamped, which is different from where ...
