Re: Rear control arm clearance

Thanks Keith, Perfect. Picture says 1000 words. I only need to shave a bees d**k off mine to get the clearance. Im running 14 x 6.5 +25 rear wheels. BR Specials. A Watanabe look a like. 195/60/14 tyres. A poorly positioned wheel weight is all that's preventing the wheel turning freely, despite askin...

Hi all,

Does anyone have pictures of their rear control arms after trimming the leading edge for wheel clearance.

Thanks, Shaun

Re: speedo gear options

Thanks Mike. Appreciate the detailed explanation. I currently have a 16 tooth speedo gear in my short tail 63A dogleg box. I will wait to fit my new 14 inch rims and tyres and take it for a run at 100kph using GPS. Pending those results, I will make the appropriate correction.

Cheers, Shaun.

speedo gear options

Hi all, I have a dogleg five speed gearbox in my 510 with an R180 diff running 4.11 gears. What speedo drives do you guys and girls use to make the speedo read correctly? I have a red 20 tooth gear from a zed car, however, the alloy speedo gear housings are different between the long and short tail ...

Re: Electrical gremlins

Hi all, I'm pleased to say the problem is fixed. :D I ran a cable from the negative battery terminal to the body work (captive nut on the strut tower). This has provided a decent earth and now everything functions correctly. Thinking back my previous 510 had this exact setup. Somehow I didn't notice...

Re: Electrical gremlins

Thanks for the reply Yenpit.

Further testing led me to also think it was an earth issue. I do NOT have a ground strap. Only the Negative battery cable to the engine block. I will definitely try adding one.

Re: Headlight fix

Arcing, as in a poor connection. Is that even the correct spelling?

Re: Headlight fix

Hi Keith, Any success? Just a thought. I've had past issues with the factory loom connectors inside the fire wall. The problem is not obvious because the wiring is encased in the plastic plug. When separated, there was evidence of arching and corrosion. My brother had a similar experience with his Z...

Electrical gremlins

Hi all, I have a '71 510. Four door, RHD. With the ignition on all indicators work normally. When I turn on the headlights, the fender indicators partially illuminate. I also noted the speedo cable at the rear of the instrument cluster gets warm. Headlights switch between parkers, Low and High beam ...

Re: L motor thermo fans

Thanks to you both for the helpful photos and explanations. I was thinking along the same lines. Will do a mock-up on my spare car before doing the real deal. Cheers, Shaun.

L motor thermo fans

Hi all,

saw an old post from Byron about fitting twin 10" electric fans to his bronze car. Im doing the same on my new project. Does anyone know if he drilled new mounting holes in the radiator support panel or utilised factory holes. I know this question is a long shot, take care.

cheers, Shaun.

Awesome, thanks Michael. What do you think of that colour versus egg shell white 637.

ivory white paint code?

Hi all, Does anyone know the datsun or dulux paint code for ivory white? I saw a photo of a four door 510 at the JNCS which was ivory white. Blue interior with front bench seat and maybe panasport wheels. I believe it was a 69 model, photo by John Roper. I'm building a new 510/1600 after a devastati...
