Re: WTB: 72 4 door left front window regulator.

So-- backpacksaddler, did you get one yet? I might be able to help. Shipping from Canada, unfortunately... not ideal... but if you're still looking, it's an option at least.

Did you ever find one of these? I've got one if you're still looking.

Re: 2005 Volvo V50

I hear you. Getting our kids engaged in these fiddly, old-school projects can be a real challenge when they're used to quick results. That's what I found with our boys anyway. Eager to have their own vehicles, you bet! Not quite so eager to invest the time it takes to learn how they work and how to ...

Re: NVH Issues

I chased vibration & noise for ages and finally found that the bolts holding the factory tranny mount to my 71B 5-speed were coming into contact with the crossmember (Experimental Engineering) when load came on and the driveline rotated ever so slightly on its axis. Bolts with a shorter head too...

I hope you're hearing it-- you did a great job describing & illustrating that process. I'm saving it for later. Thanks a lot for sharing what you've learned.

Re: What did you do on your 510 today?

Care to share how it was incorrect? I'll be doing the same job in a few months, also using Baz's stuff, and would be glad for any tips you'd be willing to pass along.

I was pretty sure you'd left off a zero when you said the price on the car was $600. Seriously! That's an insane deal.

Great project for you to do with your son, too. Or maybe, great project for you to do for your son? :) Either way, I hope it comes together smoothly!

Re: Greetings from Montana

Welcome Mike, good to have you here. It would be great to see some pictures of your pickup at some point. As you know, there's a lot of overlap between the 510 and the 620. A lot of the fan-dom spreads pretty easily from the one to the other.

Re: Noob build

I'm enjoying your thread-- but thinking it would be more appropriate to shift it to the "projects build" section. I'd never think of looking for anything like this level of detail, or ongoing progress reports, in this new-member section. I realize this is a moderator's decision, not yours,...

Re: 2.3L of fun

My thoughts to you and Steve on your forced air induction boxes. On carburated applications, it is important to pressurize the whole carb - including the vents for the float bowels, an equal amount. Otherwise the pressure differential will lean out the mixture. Steve on your SU's the float bowl is ...

Re: 2.3L of fun

Norm, that's neat to see your cold-air intake project. Looks like you've thought it through well and executed it cleanly. I experimented with a similar system last spring on my SU-equipped L20B. I made a sheet-metal box that fed the air into the "top centre," between the two carbs, by mean...

Re: Improving crash safety without a cage

Angus, I got great service on a set of new seatbelts from Steve Pekrul at seatbeltplanet.com. He's helped a few of us 510 guys figure out how to install modern belts "right," and was really accommodating. The key thing is that you need to install a "loop" at the top of the front ...

Re: The Red Baron

I just weighed the two rolls of asphalt / aluminum composite that I'm going to be using for soundproofing. Together they weigh about 6 pounds. And I don't know if that will be enough material to do the whole job, so if not, weight wise I'm going to be adding more to the car than I took away when I r...

Re: rebuilding half-shafts?

Good question. No I didn't, partly because I didn't have such a thing but also because it was simple just to slip the boot onto the shaft before re-assembling the unit. If you look back at the pictures you'll see that the boot is already in place from the very beginning of the re-assembly.
