WTB: front valance for a '69
I'm looking for a valance that fits the small '69 turnsignals. I'm sporting a fiberglass valance right now, it's well made, but the cutouts are for the larger 70+ turnsignals.

Re: WTB 510 windshield - everett, wa (FOUND!)
I used one of the cal-style seals with no trim groove on the front, and an oem style seal on the rear. I'm not sure how much of a difference it makes. But after breaking two, my biggest advice is use soapy water where the rubber meets the car, it made a night and day difference vs trying to do it dry.

Re: WTB 510 windshield - everett, wa
Carter hooked me up! To anybody installing a windshield or back glass in the future. Use soapy water! You should need only very light pressure on the outside of the glass. A few lbs at most. Press the seal into place with your fingertips right behind the rope. Once the bottom is in place gently pres...

Re: WTB 510 windshield - everett, wa
Ok, I just did the back glass, nice and easy.
I used soapy water, and did it in small sections evenly alternaitng both sides, and I made sure the bottom was fully seated and all the way down before working up the edges.
Now I just need a new windshield, I sent Carter an email, and texted Frank.

Re: WTB 510 windshield - everett, wa
I'm doing the rope trick, but I think I was pushing too hard, didn't get it seated on the lower groove well enough, and got it in crooked
I've done it a couple times before, and I don't remember it being so hard. I could use a hand, I'm really nervous about doing the back glass.

Re: Datsun 510 do-over
Some updated pics from the body shop, its progressing much faster than I had expected. They're just about ready for primer - I've been really impressed with the quality of the work, it is looking great. http://i.imgur.com/IiVII.jpg http://i.imgur.com/xt8Mz.jpg http://i.imgur.com/yUTxb.jpg I also rev...

Re: Datsun 510 do-over
I've also been tinkering with my micro sized CNC. One of the tricky things about installing an SR in the 510 is the limited clearance between the water outlet and radiator inlet. The water outlet comes off the drivers side of the head towards the very front of the motor and then snakes under the CAS...

Re: Datsun 510 do-over
At first I had really wanted to do ALL of the work on my car. When I started getting into the bodywork and realized how terrible I was at it my plans changed :) The car is in excellent hands at the bodyshop and I'm so glad I handed this part of the project off to the professionals. I have some updat...

Re: Datsun 510 do-over
That's a great idea! April sounds like an ambitious but reasonable time, I'm going to make that my goal. It's pretty exciting to be making some progress (finally!) and I'm looking forward to catching up

Re: Datsun 510 do-over
Back from the dead! It's been two years since I last updated my thread, and I'm ashamed to say that not much has happened since then... UNTIL NOW! :) A friend of mine now owns a body-shop, and this was the sign I needed. My car has been languishing in the bodywork phase for far too long and its time...

Re: Datsun 510 do-over
Quick update: I haven't done much in the past 6 months, I've slowly been working on the rear fenders a little more, and I replaced my rusted out rocker panel section. I've also been working on an aluminum crank pulley on the side. When I get sick of the body work, I do a little machining to make it ...
