FS: 1971 510 2 door project, MD
SOLD!!! 1971 Datsun 510 2 door project. I have owned this car for about the last 12 years. It had a built up L20b with a damaged engine, I fixed the problem in the engine and drove it maybe 200 miles. I had another problem with the engine, and was planning doing a swap anyway. I also had just moved...

F/S:MD L20b part out, W58 peanut head, truck 5 speed, SU's
I have for sale a W58 closed chamber peanut head with aftermarket cam. This was in the car from the previous owner and I don't have the specs on the cam. The deck has some pitting on the surface and the pistons have indents on them from the intake valves, so it should be gone over before use. Also s...

Re: S12 V6 Struts & Z32 Brakes all the way around
I'm pretty sure the ZX rear hubs don't fit in the 510 arms. I had my re-drilled by a machine shop for $100. Much less of a headache then trying to get turbo hubs. I ditched the internal parking brake idea a while back, I'm looking into a parking brake caliper. I know brembo and wilwood both make the...

I'd love to get the whole car but you are in Texas and I am in Maryland. A non rusty shell is nearly impossible to come by here. Do you know what those flares are off of?

Re: T/C rod length
I am a tech, I performed the alignment myself. Left front caster is -0.4, camber is -0.1 degrees. Right front is caster -0.1, camber +0.2 degrees. I have S12 V6 front spindles, and coilovers, stock upper mounts, stock steering arms, lca's and t/c rods. I plan to make the t/c rods and lca's adjustabl...

Re: T/C rod length
I forgot to mention I have aligned my car and know that the caster is currently 0 to slightly negative, so it seems like it will be a big adjsutment. I am not moving the pivot points very far if any, I am using a tie rod from a 300zx and a steel tube that I machined and threaded. (Similar to a few o...

T/C rod length
I am in the process of building adjustable t/c rods. Does any one know approximately how much shorter than stock the rod has to be to obtain roughly 5 degrees of positive caster? I just want to make sure I have enough adjustability built in to them.

Re: Intercooler Fitment
I am using an intercooler made by Mishimoto, it is close to the size you listed. I think its is about 22x12.75x3, and i'm using a 944 radiator its about 2 1/4" thick. You will have to cut the core support no matter what. I am using an sr20 so I am not sure if it is the same lenght as a ka, but ...

Re: homemade TC rod pics
What about just using the jamb nuts intended for the 280zx tie rods? Those look good, I am going to go with a similar setup. I was trying to find a tie rod with 5/8" thread since it is easy to find tubing or a radius rod that is 5/8-18 thread.

Re: Another 510 finds it way to me
David, are you keeping those fenders on there? I feel like I read somewhere that you can use the back part of the front arches on the front part of the rears. I might be interested if you aren't going to use them. That rust doesn't look too too bad, nice project. -Rob

Re: Power Assist steering anyone??
These things are being put into a lot of newer cars. Toyota and Lexus hybrids use electric power steering so you can turn the wheel when the engine isn't running. I'm sure eventually these units will become cheaper as they get older.

Re: Rust Repair
What about just a flat piece of sheet metal? Are all the castings put in there for added strength? If I am cutting out the whole floor why not just use some square DOM and make a mini tube frame for the center of the car? or that might just be too much work to get right, just thinking out loud here.

Rust Repair
I pulled the rest of the interior out, and was not happy with what I found. How do you think I shoould go about fixing this? It looks like I might as well cut out the entire passenger side floor, and maybe the drivers as well. The only thing is that it looks like it is starting to creep up onto the ...
