Re: WTB - transmission part - reverse idler gear 23 teeth

My information shows all 620, 280z and 810s had them (only in the 5 speeds). All other vehicles with 71B 5 speeds (S110 200sx, Maxima, 720 and 280zx) changed this gear in the mid 80s so beware. The correct number is 32282-E9000 23Tooth used till Nov '82 on the 280zx.

Re: 280ZX Turbo or Equivilent High Volume Pump Part Number

Sorry Byron I guess that didn't really answer your original question. Just how to know one when you see it. All the oil pumps have that Hitachi symbol on them.

I just grab used ones, after all they don't have much wear on them being an oil pump.

Re: 280ZX Turbo or Equivilent High Volume Pump Part Number

Only the KA24E in the 240sx had it and both KA24E and DE had them in the D21 Hardbody trucks. '89-'90 240sx and '90-'97 D21 Hardbody KA24E hi volume pump....... 15010-40F00. '98- KA24DE Hardbody pump.... 15010-3S500. The number difference for the same pump is likely a slightly different release pres...

Re: #4G63510 Brakes

My only other thought are the "restrictors" in the MC. Everyone says to take these out, but when I did that to the 15/16" MC, the brakes got worse. (granted I put the booster on at the same time) These don't seem to do anything other than not let fluid flow backward too much, but seem to allow some...

Re: Transmissions-- ONE left

I go by the model year which begins around June/July of the previous year. This is the car they would normally be in. Confusing, I know. I have a '79 280zx in my 710 and for sure, it's a mid ratio with a 12% over drive. I do have an '81-'83 zx laying around somewhere but hesitate to go to the bother...

Probably from an SR20, not a VG but definitely NOT L or Z series. The rear half is from an '80 to 86.5 71B. http://www.the510realm.com/download/f...

Byron... I totally understand the work load keeping the site clean and fit for use. There's nothing quite like spending an hour in the morning taking out the garbage and seeing posts you'd love to reply to slipping past. All I can say is keep up the good work, it's appreciated.

Re: How broken is my L20b?

Reversed firing order would run on two cylinders.... barely. It's just that 10cc of space is removed from the combustion chamber. On a stock 8.5 compression L16 putting 10cc of oil in raises the compression to 10.61. Now this is not strictly true at cranking and lower speeds speed as the intake clos...

Re: How broken is my L20b?

10cc would account for the huge increase in compression. wow. Usually they go up under 10 PSI. If the engine had been running OR first start with assembly lube I wouldn't worry. An engine will not run with the ignition wires 180 out. It's impossible. When #1 cylinder is on the compression stroke #3 ...

Re: what to do with stock struts

The offsets are from the 710.

Junk them and save yourself time and bother. The stokers have the smaller wheel bearings, too long to lower, not much for calipers that would bolt on and dinner plate rotors.

Re: Stock Gauge Wiring

12v is fed to a voltage regulator that reduces it to about 8 volts. This 8 volts is steady and does not vary from engine off non charge 12.6v to idle to full charging at 14.4v so the gauges read steady. The regulator is just a bi-metallic strip with contact points on one end and a coil of wire aroun...

Re: L16/18/20 Intake Manifold Flange Plate - Tech Drawing

I don't have a CAD file I just jumped in and made them. I took a non water cooled U67 intake and cut the flange ends off and traced it out on 1/2" steel and cut out both front and back. Used a 1.5" hole saw on a $50 drill press and a lot of water for coolant in a squeeze bottle. I used steel only be...
