Re: Suspension and brake questions, I searched

What's wrong with he zx calipers? Was good enough for stopping the much heavier 280zx turbo, it will be total overkill on a 500 pound lighter 510. The 3/4" master may be a little small for the larger calipers and travel almost to the floor to move enough fluid. This will give them a mushy pedal...

Re: How to: Rejuvenate Calipers and Hubs

I guess you could use any black spray on rust paint on the hub. I wouldn't bother as it isn't visible. If you have spoked after market or optional zx rims you could use a contrasting color that makes it stand out. My Maxima calipers have cheap red spray on rust paint. https://i.imgur.com/iu2VvTA.jpg

Re: How to: Rejuvenate Calipers and Hubs

It's the seal closest the center of the vehicle and presses into the back of the hub. The rubber seal lips ride on the stationary spindle and keep dirt/water out and grease in. I got a set for my Maxima struts for $8 or $9 bucks for the pair. If cleaning the inner bearing or replacing it the seal ha...

Re: VG motor and trani compatibility

Not in any of the 11 string theory universes. In short, the 510 uses an L series engine/transmission and the VG30E , well it's a VG series engine that uses a VG transmission. You would need the VG30 auto transmission from a '84- 300zx, '86- D21 Hardbody, (2wd) '87- S12 All are 4 speed automatics tha...

Re: How to: Rejuvenate Calipers and Hubs

I rebuilt a set of 4x4 Toyota 4 piston calipers for my 620. In the kit there were square edged rubber rings just like piston rings and dust seals. Washed in soapy water and scrub brush very thoroughly. Lightly polished the bores with fine steel wool. (the equivalent of honing) Washed again. Had time...

Re: How to: Rejuvenate Calipers and Hubs

Hubs are just a grease container and a holder holder for the press in lug bolts and the bolt on rotor. The wheel bearing inside rides on an outer race that is easily knocked out with a drift and are replaceable. There is a press in rear grease seal, also replaceable. If the bearing is even slightly ...

Re: dogleg 5 speed shifter bushings

The shifter on the far right is for the F4W63 used in the 510/521 and later 610/710/A10 The shifter style to it's left was used on the '81-'84 Maxima and mostly after '81 on the 720 and the 280zx (non turbo) the '84-'86 S12. They may have been bent into different shapes to fit the vehicle. In the pi...

Re: WTB: L20B Oil Pan & Pickup

Well the L/Z series oil pans are not even close to a KA pan. "oil pan" is as close as they get. https://i.imgur.com/3B8ys25.jpg KA24E oil pans. Front is to the left. Top is front sump '89 S13, below is similar year rear sump D21. Both have a diagonal notch (right front) for the oil pump. F...

Re: dogleg 5 speed shifter bushings

That shifter is from an '80s 71B transmission. The '82-'83 S110 200sx, the '84-'86.5 S12 200sx, the later '83 and up 720, the '81-'84 Maxima and the later non turbo 280zx. If I can remember I can post the part numbers for these and perhaps narrow down the exact years. Nissan may still have these ava...

Re: 710 park bench bumpers.

Every weekend it's been raining and windy. When it was ok I spent cutting and welding the rear one. The plan is to go up to the yard and let the owner know I want the Firenze set also. Maybe but them and have him pull the car forward so I can get at the rear one. From 5 feet away they look ok.

Re: WTB: L20B Oil Pan & Pickup

Car KA were front sump. The KA24E has a notch across the right front to allow for the external oil pump (just like the L and Z series have) the KA24DE pan is straight across like the L series. I have a car and truck KA-E oil pans at home and more than a few L and Z oil pans. I'll compare the L to th...
