Re: Bad Brakes

1/ Safely get up to speed and pull the emergency brake on a few clicks so you can feel the drag. Now try the brakes. Still spongy? 2/ Are the flex hoses swelling under pressure? Look at all of them while someone steps hard on the brake. Do any swell? 3/ Blead the master 2 times bench and in car also...

Re: Bad Brakes

Push down on the pedal with thumb. The brake push rod up under the dash should be adjusted so that there's 1/16" to 1/8" or a few mm of easy movement before there is firm resistance.

Re: Bad Brakes

Are the rear drums adjusted? Excessive travel of the shoes will increase pedal travel.

Have you checked the pedal play? Should be 1/16"

Re: Shorter valve length?

Seems obvious that a shorter stem length is the cause. 1/ I know you shouldn't, but how about re-grinding the seats and sinking the valves slightly? A mm or two is well within reason. Would remove the binding problem also. 2/ What about removing the cam towers and have the base milled down to lower ...

Re: Racing setup/ car feedback

Tires and tire pressure can make a tremendous difference to how the car "feels". It is the link to the road and seat of the pants feel. That is why on the Specialty road race cars they have tire Relief Blow offs, to keep the tire pressure at the "magic" number depending on the t...

Re: Looking to get a rear LSD Diff, what ratio/config?

You have to balance the power needed to push through the wind at the speed you want to go and the engine RPMs. If it requires 30 hp to go 50 MPH you'll need 4 times this or 120 to double the speed. It's easy to over drive too much and lower the RPMs to where you can't go over a certain speed.

Re: Looking to get a rear LSD Diff, what ratio/config?

If you are used to 3,200 at 60 MPH in 4th (stock tire and 3.70 differential) then in 5th it would be 14.5% reduced or 2,736. A 4.11 is 11% increase over the 3.7 so 4th will now be 3,552 an increase of 350 rpm and 5th 3,036 an increase of only 300 rpms. Another way to look at it is the differential g...
