Re: "83 280ZX close ratio box and 3:90 differential

To confirm you do have the close ratio box, mark the input and output splines, place in first and turn the input spline 20 full turns while someone counts the output turns. (I use an old clutch disc) 20 divided by 3.062 (1st gear ratio) should be 6.5 output turns. A mid ratio is 6.0 turns, a wide ra...

Re: Need camshaft identification

U67 is an L20B head but could have an L16 cam swapped in. If an L20B cam it will have these square bumps cast in... https://i.imgur.com/mAcMb0w.jpg I have a used Isky cam (I assume reground) with a calculated .480 lift (although it is stamped .490) for a U-67 head I want to 'build'. It seems to work...

Re: Another transmission ID.

I have an '85 diesel in pieces and the input splines are the same as all Nissan input splines. Only the front case is different with the starter on the driver''s side and the bolt pattern. Actually the diesel front case can fit the Roadster R16 and U20. got a guy needing trany work on his 81 diesel ...

Re: Another transmission ID.

Will a L series bell housing fit a napZ transmission It's actually a front case as it covers all the gears 1 through 4 and not just the clutch. Yes 4 or 5 speed cases will bolt on with two or three possible exceptions you will need to check. 1/ Some older 4 speeds have the reverse switch about an i...

Re: Stuck clutch

Place in 4th gear, e-brake on, brake on and wheels chocked so it cannot move. Depress the clutch pedal. This will un-clamp the disc even though it may be stuck to the flywheel or PP... or both. Use the starter to bump the flywheel and attached PP against the clutch disc which is locked to the immobi...

Re: engine dies like a switch was thrown

Ah... EI. If power to the coil on the positive terminal, and a jumper to ground on the negative side produces a spark, then the problem is somewhere in the distributor. https://i.imgur.com/ZOkbBht.jpg 1/ Check for power right at the B terminal on the module. 2/ Check that the wire from the C termina...

Re: Turbos and B210 boosters

All Datsuns with brake boosters have an in line, one way valve, between it and the intake vacuum supply. If working properly there is residual vacuum in the booster after the engine is shut off. This means that if your engine should quit while driving, there is still enough vacuum in the booster to ...

Re: engine dies like a switch was thrown

Not running but headlights work. Not the fusible link... Crank the engine over and check for spark by holding coil wire near ground or use an old spark plug. Got spark? Yes .... pull a plug wire off and check for spark. Confirmed no spark. Problem is between the coil wire and plug wire. Distributor ...

Red Batmobile. Nissan hasn't been Nissan since about '95.

Concept cars are to DDs, what fashion model 'clothes' are to jeans and a T shirt. Never have I ever seen a concept car turned into a production reality by ANY car maker. If we had we'd all have flying our cars to go to work by now.

Re: 620 KC project

Yeah just swap the 620 body onto the 720 frame assuming the 720 is also a long wheelbase truck, and keep the Z24. If the 720 is a short wheelbase you'll have to make a flat bed for it. Keep the 620 wiring and you'll have to convert to internally regulated alternator (on the 720) easily done. The upp...

Re: 5 speed hole cutting!

The SR will surely be a 71C car transmission and they are 3-4 inches longer than the 71B. Here's what I had in my 710.... It's an F4W63L same length and shifter as the 510. I installed a 71B from a '79 280zx and the shifter fit the hole or better said I did not have to cut anything. Now seeing as ho...

Ok. I didn’t read that very carefully. A 350z uses a 240mm clutch. Perhaps that will work for you?

I think they are 250mm but 750 and 880 Kg clamp.
