Check spark plug wires on the distributor cap. 1342 is the firing order in a counter clockwise direction.

Re: Another transmission ID.

Blue is the spoor of a previous owner that drove a Chevy. They love using that shit. Put it on by the hand full. Definitely an L series FS5W71B 5 speed Made before 1980 because there is no reverse check sleeve. Not from a 620 truck as it doesn't have any emission switches on it. This would narrow it...

Fill out your profile. Where are you?

Choke not on enough. The way it's flapping around it may not be connected properly.

Re: Starter not engaging prperly

Starter is bolted to the transmission. Flywheel is bolted to the engine. If the spacer is missing the transmission will be closer to the engine, moving the starter forward away from the flywheel. This would mean the starter has farther to reach in for proper engagement of the starter ring. I would g...

Re: Starter not engaging prperly

With the starter out, did you rotate the engine completely around to inspect the flywheel ring? In order of easy (and more likely) to more difficult... Look between the engine block and the transmission. There should be a 1/16" engine plate sandwiched between them. If missing (could happen if f...

Re: WTB: L20B Oil Pan & Pickup

Well other than the 521, the L16 came in the 510 so it will fit the L18 and L20B just fine.

Re: WTB: L20B Oil Pan & Pickup

Not nearly enough information.

If for a 510, use an L16 pan/pick-up from a 510.

Generally car L20B 'front sump' oil pans fit the car they came from... 610/710/A10/S10

Early and 71B transmissions, the mainshaft was machined. On the 71B there were metal or plastic. Top is a '79 zx, bottom is an

Re: Column shift auto to manual?

I have the mid ratio 280zx 5 speed and 4.11s in my 710. Originally 3.70, gears really woke it up. Very pleased with the grunt it has now. My 2,734 mile Canby trip last summer, I got 29.324 US or 35.2 MPG Imp gallons over all.

http://www.myjeepxj.com/uploads/images/Jeep/transmission-cooler/DSCF0223.JPG Get yours re-cored and add an RV transmission cooler to the front. I cut a rad open once and there was only about 6" of copper pipe in the tank bottom. How this cools is beyond me. I used the heat exchanger from an ol...
