Re: Wtb coolant inlet

Clean and degrease it and patch with JB weld, then sand down. The hose will cover it anyway.

Re: Aluminum drums ?

I assume the aluminum rims have a thin steel liner??? Aluminum heat expansion is 2 Xs that of steel. Shoes will have to travel farther on a hot aluminum drum than a hot steel one.

Re: Aluminum drums ?

Lighter, less unsprung weight. Finned, so might dissipate heat better but really how often on the street do your brakes suffer fade from over heating?

Re: Suspension and brake questions

I was more or less concerned that if I lowered 1.5-2" it started affecting suspension geometry that why I was asking if adjustable TC and LCA were required You may be thinking of bump steer. That IS affected when lowering below stock height. Easily corrected with bump steer spacers. I made my ...

Re: Suspension and brake questions

You don't need adjustable coil overs because you will never adjust them once your height is set where you like. You can tweak the stock coil and dampers to get 2" of drop and a firmer ride in conjunction with 280zx struts for the larger caliper and vented rotor. Rear spring the same with a real...

Re: Possible better alternative to 280ZX struts found

My first Datsun, a 510, was 47 years ago followed by a B-210 and a 521. Then about 5-6 years when I despaired of ever seeing another till my 620 came along and haven't been without an L series Datsun since.

Re: Possible better alternative to 280ZX struts found

Julian of the Dime Quarterly fame???? That Jules? I wrote him one time telling him the transmission swap info was incorrect so he said, "if you can do better show me." Took almost two years for me to polish it but no arguments and printed verbatim. Vol 11 issue 4. Forgot how contentious he...

Re: Possible better alternative to 280ZX struts found

Wrong yet again. Paraphrasing allows the use of more accurate or clearer words to express the same meaning, it does not allow changing the meaning of someone's text. You miss quoted me to be miss leading and that is still... sad. I've been nothing but polite to you. I asked for clarification what? 3...

Re: Possible better alternative to 280ZX struts found

Miss quoting me is sad. I simply asked for some clarity. Well the take away now is that you made some claims about strut angles that aren't backed up and it's up to me to prove you right??????

Re: Possible better alternative to 280ZX struts found

I did and don't see any measurements or numbers just claims they are different. I say they are all 10 degrees and see nothing in your methodology to prove otherwise to change my mind. If I can't see it then simply telling me twice to re-read your post isn't helpful.

Re: Possible better alternative to 280ZX struts found

Not going to pipe down, I want to know. If not 10 degrees or if they are all different it's important to know. img]https://i.imgur.com/jYNq4kf.jpg[/img] So what is this angle between the tube and the spindle? Is it the same for all those struts? https://i.imgur.com/V5ge41z.jpg This is meaningless. T...

Re: Possible better alternative to 280ZX struts found

I measured my zx struts at 24" from base to top, so on the car probably 20"???? A 2 degree difference would only move the top just over 0.34" on a camber plate. If the spindle is say 8" long, (I didn't measure this) moving the tube 2 degrees wiggles the spindle 0.13" Line th...
