Re: CV Failure

Is there a better outer boot setup? Its stamped steel with an inner boot seal. If the stamped retainer gets bent or warped the grease has an escape. Could a machined item be made with a true flat surface making things better from that side? Like this? http://www.racereadyproducts.com/cv-boots/fortin...

Re: CV Failure

An O-ring groove, or flat gasket along with a heat-sink outer diameter design change would help a ton on these adapters.

Re: CV Failure

Actually I responded to Matt's "Looks like Troy needs to redesign the adapters for containing the grease" if this isn't saying "Blaming" Troy's adapters when my issue was grease escaping and ruining a Single CV, then I don't know what is. Not here to start arguments guys, I just...

Re: CV Failure

Looks like Troy needs to redesign the adapters for containing the grease. I will be making adjustments to my adapters, but I hardly sell any DIY adapters anymore. I never blamed Troy for anything nor should you, as I believe my CV failure being One CV, was due to one of two things as I mentioned or...

Re: CV Failure

Take the existing adapter and run a jobber length tap drill through the side of the adapter into the taper. Tap for a zerk fitting. Apply red bottle loctite to the zerk threads and you have a place to pump grease.

Re: Billet exterior c-Pillar vents in the works

Billet would be hard to keep clean. 510s never had anything billet..wouldn't the stainless vents match all the rest of the trim on the car?? Not billet isnt really that hard to keep clean. Aluminum can also be polished and chromed to match the trim. Stainless is a whole different animal. Machine ti...

Re: Billet exterior c-Pillar vents in the works

Amazing how we really struggle to recreate what was made 49 years ago. It's not hard to duplicate, its hard to duplicate affordable. I have made one set of these before but the process is what costs a pile. If the machine doesn't have fast rapid moves and good torque on the spindle. Making a mould ...

Re: Ecotec 510

I think 7075 would be overkill with how much material mass is there. 6061 would hold up as long as the object wasn't thin wall.
