Re: #4G63510 Brakes

Order placed today through Porterfield. I tried to order some over the weekend, but they don't have a method of confirming SCCA discounts on their site. Thankfully I'm only 1 day shipping from their location, so I should get these before I leave for the Powerland meet on Thursday. I'll report back i...

Re: #4G63510 Brakes

Still no progress on this. Everyone I speak to seems just as confused as I do. I do have one theory, though it's not very good. The front calipers have banjo fittings rather than straight fittings. Is it possible that there is a restriction in that style of fitting that is not allowing enough fluid ...

Re: #4G63510 Suspension

After putting a zip tie on the strut and driving around a bit, it doesn't seem to be bottoming out. I still have about a half inch of travel on the strut. I didn't drive it like on track, but I figured the road bumps and speed bumps would cycle it enough. I'll follow everyone's advice and get some t...

Re: Stock Gauge Wiring

I found the answer to my question in Dime Quarterly. Unfortunately, I had to use the "old school" paper version since the PDF on Google Drive is missing Volume 3 Issue 2. I had my wires right anyway, but I put the signal wire from the fuel sender on the wrong pin when I rewired the car. Sidenote: Wh...

Stock Gauge Wiring

I recently redid EVERY chassis wire in the car and replaced all connectors (except the ignition switch) with Deutsch connectors. In doing so, I've ensured that there is no corrosion in the wiring and that the connectors will not come loose or fade away in the sands of time. However, the one stock ga...

Re: Center Mounted Parking Brake

I once again used a Z31 unit. I have an EG Civic center console to cover it, but it seems to work well enough. I had to create a couple of simple mounts to hold the parking brake in place of course, and much lighter mounts for the center console. Of course I don't have any current pics, but i can ge...

#4G63510 Brakes

This will be an updated thread on progress, questions, and issues associated with my specific braking system. And boy do I need some help :? I've been posting in this thread http://the510realm.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=31150 here, but I feel it has gone beyond what that thread was intended for. I've ...

Re: #4G63510 Suspension

If you could get the car set up for 205/45 then there are a bunch of options. You didn’t mention if the strut tubes are shortened or not. If not, you may be sitting at a static ride height quite far down in the shocks travel meaning that the damping is poor. I’ve lived through this with my 280zx OE...

Re: #4G63510 Suspension

I agree with Robyn, I would shoot for 5 degrees for sure. As a function, castor induces MORE negative camber in a turn, so on that course you show, it would really help as there were a lot of tight turns. Make sure it is EVEN and that you or equivalent weight sits in the driver seat when setting su...

#4G63510 Suspension

I'm planning on this being an updated thread of my setup and how I change it over time. I'm currently experiencing some issues I'll outline below. Current setup: TSW Kyalami wheels 16x7 +42 (I think) 10mm spacer 205/40/16 Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 340 treadwear Tire pressure is usually 20-22psi at...

Re: New swap-4G63T

It's been a while since I've updated this. I've been fighting some issues. I've got the whole chassis rewired with Deutsch connectors. Swapped in a 7/8" MC with the booster, and then without the booster. I'm still fighting braking issues. None of that stops me from taking the car out to autocross an...

Re: Converting NOnLSD to LSD

I used a later model R200, so the splines were the same as the 240SX/Skyline etc. I have a Tomei clutch type that I reduced the initial breakaway torque for. It's still a bit clunky, but all clutch LSDs are. As long as you use later versions that are compatible with the newer units, you have plenty ...

Re: B210 brake booster install

I found a single reference to my issue of fitment in an old post. Either open up the spacer hole, or use the S30 spacer. I don't have an S30 laying around, so I used a step bit to open it up. Here is the result. https://i.postimg.cc/wj6txY0L/IMG-4781.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/BnMjX7Vy/IMG-4782.jpg ht...

Re: B210 brake booster install

I'm still at it. The brakes still have a lot of weak pressure on the first part of pedal travel and then hard. I have managed to make them work with effort, but that's not why I installed the booster. To alleviate any wrong parts matching on my end, I decided to get a 7/8" MC from an S30. Unfortunat...

Re: B210 brake booster install

The brakes worked fine before I installed the booster. It took effort to brake, but the more I pressed, the more I stopped. This pedal is flaccid and never gets hard. (no innuendo intended) It will slow the car, but in a panic brake or threshold braking situation, it will end the car's life. I'm rea...
