Re: Narrowing rear control arms

It's obvious you guys are much smarter than me. I'm just trying to look at things from my limited perspective in hopes that it helps in some way with what you guys are doing. :D Looking at your design, have you considered what rear bearing housing you're going to use? Maybe you can just steal it fro...

Re: Narrowing rear control arms

I'm nobody and have no idea what I'm talking about, but I would think you might want to start with the rear crossmember itself. I think the large box design has a LOT of room for improvement. Moving the pickup points upward, removing the restrictive box around the diff mount, better clearance for th...

Re: Adjustable Rear Spring Perch

I found some weight jackers on Ermish Racing. The name is misleading, but seems to serve the purpose. I don't think it's cost effective to spend $400 on a system like this, so I've decided against it. Eventually I'll do coilovers, but I was hoping to find something more cost efficient for the time b...

Re: Door Lock Issue

That is an awesome fix. Some delrin tubing will be the best fix option. Agreed. I'm sure others will begin to have issues (if they haven't already) with their locks. The stock piece is just plastic and will wear our or break over time and use. I know my rubber tubing fix won't last forever, but it ...

Re: Door Lock Issue

I bought a set of locks from Z Car Depot for a 240Z, and they work :) You might need to turn the tab 180 degrees for one side of the car, but they seem to work just fine. https://zcardepot.com/image/cache/data/800-528-1-900x900.jpg My issue seems to have stemmed from a spacer/cushion-thing on the ar...

Re: Front Wheel Clearance?

I'm running 205/50/16 with a 10mm spacer up front. Of course, this is with some S12 V6 struts and Z31 hubs and brakes. So most of that won't apply to anyone else. I'm planning on getting lower control arms and T/C rods in the near future and using my camber plates to add caster. I'm not sure if that...

Re: Front Wheel Clearance?

Mr. Peter Brock was at my local Cars and Coffee yesterday, and he said it's a pretty simple procedure. Others have suggested moving the wheel position with T/C rods etc., but I think surgery is necessary in this case. I'll be tackling this in the near future. I'll keep searching for posts and tutori...

Re: New swap-4G63T

Small updates. The car is running well and I'll be attending my second autocross event tonight. I've installed Futofab camber/toe plates in the rear and did a proper alignment. I've installed some BMW ellipsoid headlights and a few creature comforts like a stereo and thin carpet. I'll continue to so...

Re: Door Lock Issue

At this point I'm looking to replace my locks and just key them to my current keys. However, new 510 locks don't seem to be common or reasonably priced. The 240Z stuff seems more common and better priced. This ebay listing says it fits 240Z etc. and 510. Are the locks similar enough that this will w...

Re: Door Lock Issue

I took things apart today to get a better look at what was going on. It seems the lock or the "bracket" aren't working correctly. I got some video of it. What do you guys think?

Door Lock Issue

Recently my driver's door has failed to unlock from the key. It locks just fine, but won't fully unlock with the key. Thankfully, my trunk works fine and the stock jack "wrench" can reach inside the lowered window to pull up on the lock plunger ;-) I went through the door linkage about a m...

Re: Front Wheel Clearance?

I've been contemplating getting control arms and T/C rods, and maybe that's a better solution than cutting my good sheet metal. I'm running 16x7 wheels (I think) with some 205/50/16 tires. There's quite a bit of rubbing happening, but only on tighter turns. I don't have issues driving around, and th...

Front Wheel Clearance?

As many of you know, running larger wheels and tires up front requires some clearancing of the inner wheel area to allow full steering. However, I have seen very few pictures of this, let alone a "how to" on it. My search terms aren't matching anything anyone is posting. Does anyone have a...

Re: Adjustable Rear Spring Perch

This is what I'm currently looking at, but it states it's for 5" or 5.25" springs. It also says it has a 2.75" ID which would probably be too tight for a 3" ID spring.

Adjustable Rear Spring Perch

I'm having trouble finding any info on spring perches for the stock rear 510 location. I know someone has done it, but I can't even find good info on spring size. From what I can gather, the stock rear springs are about 4.25" OD and about 3" ID. The suspension kit I ordered 10 years ago fr...
