Re: New Apex Engineered rear suspension
It would be cool if they did actual charts of stock vs. their's. I know from what we did that the points you choose are very important if you want less tow and camber gain. 1/2 of stock camber gain is best we could do and that wasn't easy. Also their exhaust clearance seems non existent and that ja...

Re: New Apex Engineered rear suspension
Someone finally got back to me and confirmed they can do an R200 and Z31 hubs with CV axle modification. They do sell a Z31 unit, so I didn't think this would be too far fetched. I'm just waiting on them to confirm my request for an order and to send some money. Has anyone actually installed the uni...

Re: LSD: Clutch Type vs Helical ATB
Jeffball, out of curiosity - what is the break away torque set at on your diff? I'm not sure how to measure that. I don't believe Tomei gives a spec. I did swap 1 clutch to reduce the breakaway torque before I installed it because I assumed it would do what it's doing. I have Z31 CV joints with the...

Re: My Brakes Suck!
I took my brakes off this week to check things over and swap in some "street pads". The pads I ordered didn't fit, so I just reassembled. I noticed the grease in the caliper slides was pretty sticky, so I replaced it with good stuff. This seems to have helped the pedal feel slightly. I hav...

Re: LSD: Clutch Type vs Helical ATB
I put more slippy juice in the diff and it didn't seem to help. I don't have a ton of miles on it yet, but it still clunks. Maybe I need to do more "performance driving" to loosen things up and work the additive in. I'll keep updating, but I'm not sure this is the right diff for me and my ...

Re: New swap-4G63T
Wait, so you have AC in this guy now? Not quite. Due to the location of my throttle body, I need to fabricate a new mount for the compressor. I started playing with Fusion360, but I haven't gotten far enough. I'll play with it more this winter. The heater works great. It also has cruise control, al...

Re: New swap-4G63T
What was it about the climate in Las Vegas? People were less "people" and more just another number. Businesses would open and make some quick cash doing shady work and then close shop and move on. Home prices were so outrageous that I couldn't resist selling. It became less of a community...

Re: New swap-4G63T
It was time for me to leave Las Vegas. The climate (not the weather) had changed in Las Vegas and it was not for me. So I set out on the road to the Nashville area. At least I tried to set out. https://i.postimg.cc/7ZR3hh27/IMG-7330.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/Pr2zG2fS/67748273287-DB3-F02-B3-2-D35-4-F4...

Re: New swap-4G63T
2022 started off with a cold track day. The start was postponed due to low temperatures. It was below freezing in Las Vegas. What an odd thing. https://i.postimg.cc/MHK1cSPh/IMG-6935.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/mD4YsMQZ/IMG-6945.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/brCkkB4d/IMG-6889.jpg I did of course get the car...

Re: New swap-4G63T
Wow! Over a year since I updated this? Unacceptable. Lots has happened. I'll break it into a few segments. The spring of 2021 was me figuring out how to get air conditioning in the car. It's still not 100% complete, but I had to make quite a few changes. I had to redo the collant lines since the rad...

Re: My Brakes Suck!
The Porterfield pads I have are the RS-4 like Icehouse is using. I've wanted to try Z32 calipers, so I might as well give it shot. The increased caliper piston area might help the feel and I could run a less aggressive pad. If that doesn't work, I like Bertvorgon's advice on the adjusted pedal locat...

Re: My Brakes Suck!
You have brake booster? A stiff pedal is relative. Maybe a gym membership? I no longer have the booster. It didn't help at all and it actually felt worse. I'm plenty strong enough to work manual brakes. I've only had a couple of other people drive my car, and they all state that the brakes are poor...

My Brakes Suck!
I went a different route when building my car, so "the formula" doesn't completely apply to my setup. I've tried a few different things, but I'm still not happy with my brakes. Here's what I've got going on: S12 V6 struts 11" Z31 front rotors Z31 2-piston calipers Porterfield pads 11....

Re: LSD: Clutch Type vs Helical ATB
I've been daily driving my 74 Z, it has a stock STI clutch LSD and you don't even know it's an LSD until you side step the clutch. Maybe the tomei breakaway is to much for street driving. That was kind of my thinking. This is meant for an S chassis car with likely more power than I'm putting down. ...

Re: LSD: Clutch Type vs Helical ATB
I'll try to add some "slippy juice". I currently run the expensive Tomei LSD fluid. It doesn't say to add anything else, but I do have some Ford "friction modifier" laying around. I'm also wondering if everything is working correctly. I did get what felt like slip last week at au...
