Project 635 - Phase 2

Project 635 continues to progress - more so with my last customer commitment rolling out a month ago. For the first time in almost 5 years I'm free to work exclusively on my own builds. R200_276.jpg One of my first goals was to try out a taller rear drive. The stock RWD 3.54 350Z diff is a little to...

Project 635 - update

Since the last update, 635 sat in the garage. It was extremely frustrating because for 3 summers now I swore I'd have a toy to drive around and this summer was looking to be yet another disappointment. Ultimately, I purchased a sweet 2003 350z track named "Dez" for peanuts and it did a gre...

Re: Project 635 - 300HP RWD 620

Been spoiled by my Nissan comp LSD!!! I also, even with that sprint booster device, a smooth throttle and return to a constant idle in a timely manner is just plain random. Drives me crazy. What the hell were Nissan engineers doing? The Nissan comp LSD is clutch no? I've always struggled a bit with...

Solo2 and ECUs

Parked.jpg Shortly after my last post I wanted to take 635 to an autocross/Solo2 event. First, and alignment need to be done. Alignment.jpg Overall the truck was crabbing just a bit (no surprise). After the alignment the steering was straight and she tracked better. On-centre is still a little ligh...

Project 635 - 1500kms and a dyno run!

It's been a pretty busy few weeks and I've been really enjoying the pickup. Like, this type of a vehicle has been missing for WAY too long in my life, it really is good for my soul! Since the last update I've installed 8kg front springs vs the original BC Racing coilover 'extreme low' 10kg. What a m...

Another May update for 635

A quick update on 635's final tweaks. Suspension : I've installed the front sway bar and turn-in is definitely a little sharper w/o much extra stiffness. Regardless, I think I'm going to swap out the front 10kg springs to 8kg which is closer to the 350z Nismo suspension for a heavier vehicle. Once i...

Re: Checking more items off 635's list

iceman510 wrote: 15 May 2023 12:08 Could you temporarily rig up a false switch ECU input to clear that hurdle?
I was hoping I could but I can't find any reference to a park/neutral switch for the G35/350z automatic transmission. I'm wondering if it's an internal switch and sent to the ECU via CANBUS...

Checking more items off 635's list

I've had a good week with 635. I'm a little over 350km now and I'm getting a better and better feel for the truck's habits and where I need to focus on short-term. MTBProfile.jpg In the meantime, I'm getting more of my 'bucket list' activities done with the truck that have been always part of the ma...

Plated and insured, just a few nagging issues

Last week's push was well worth the effort as I finally managed to get the truck registered, plated, and insured. That's the good news. FrontEnd.jpg The bad/frustrating news is the on-going issues that are just teasing me - and preventing me from actually driving the truck. Brakes First, the passeng...

Re: Project 635 - 300HP RWD 620

Excellent! Did you also get F/R weights for bias? No, I did not. It was just a large single weight scale used for their moving trucks. They apparently do a lot of this for personal vehicles purchased out of province. I'm not sure why the Ont gov feels a Rav 4 in BC would be any different than one i...

Re: Project 635 - 300HP RWD 620

If you find the "throttle hang" is annoying, which I did on my G35, I bought a cool little device called SPRINT BOOSTER https://www.sprintboostercanada.com/?https%3A%2F%2Fwww_sprintboosterusa_com%2F&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIg97v67fI_gIVyCStBh22UwRdEAAYAiAAEgJ2QfD_BwE It sure cured my problem...

635 goes out for weighing and safety

I came across a locally available uhaul trailer for cheap and decided to act right away to begin the registration process. Safety.jpg Insurance was surprisingly easy, they are willing to cover for original purchase price ($2K) and liability w/o an appraisal. That's a reasonable risk for me to take t...

99% complete

It's been almost 3 weeks since my last update and she's still not safetied/insured. Doesn't mean I haven't been busy! A steady 15 hr/wk trouble shooting various 'shakedown' issues. It's been bit of a drag but I've been kicking myself in the ass to get out and wrap this up... First, I managed to kill...
