Re: FS: 80s Subaru 3.7 R160 Clutch LSD

... What's not so productive about Toylets comments? He does say the STI R180 is insant lock which is good to know. Then he goes on to say for $200 $300 it's a bargan then finishes off with Locked everytime no problem. Seem like productive comments to me yes, no? "While these comments are not ...

Re: FS: 80s Subaru 3.7 R160 Clutch LSD

The Sti R180 has Torsen which has instant lock compared to clutch type. For $200 to $300 it's a bargain. I used to leave some pretty gnarly rubber marks with my 2013 Sti diff in my 510. Locked every time no problem. While these comments are not exactly productive to the objective of this thread, in...

Re: FS: 80s Subaru 3.7 R160 Clutch LSD

FYI Subie R180s go for the price your asking. The R160 goes for a lot less now days. Good luck with the sale. If you shop around you'll find a Subie STI R180s for that price but the 27 spline axle stub conversion is another ~ $500+ Cdn. I know b/c that's the route I'm taking for the larger 3.5 gear...

FS: 80s Subaru 3.7 R160 Clutch LSD

Selling my R160 CLSD. Asking $800 on Kijiji, $750 plus shipping for the good folks on the Realm. Can deliver within the GTA/Ottawa corridor for no charge. Not sure what it's worth but appears to be getting rare... I seem to recall paying my asking price ~5 years ago and that doesn't include the hund...

Steady progress

As I take on more involved 510 projects I can't help but appreciate how much patience I've gained over the years. Rather than charging through the project as quickly as possible, I'm taking the time to address things as I work through each step. Case in point is the wiring to the back seat. I've alw...

I'd absolutely love to participate in a 510 tour with you guys.

I'll also plan my trip around being in Vancouver for the AJC.

Change of plans

Did you figure out how the water was getting into the car? Not yet. Either the rubber plugs or condensation between the metal and OEM soundproofing. Will keep an eye on it going forward. A change of plans came up since the last holiday posting. My family has rented a place in Kelowna for the month ...

January update - lots of progress but still slow going.

Despite the intense cold I managed to get lots done on the car over the holidays. I had hoped to make more progress but a couple surprises chewed up my limited time. Starting with the tank, I installed a baffed in-tank 190lph pump from Tanks Inc. I ditched the faulty OEM sender and replaced with a 9...

Rear sump R&P conversion

Should the EFI project proceed well then I'm also hoping to get the MR2 Rack & Pinion swap done this winter. There are (3) challenges to overcome here. Steering_OldandNew.jpg The setup consists of an MK1 (85-89) Toyota MR2 manual rack, 80's Toyota Cressida inner tie rods, '72 510 outer tie rods,...

Busy winter project coming up

So the 510 is finally on jacks, and there's a boat-load of stuff waiting for me to pickup just across the US border. In an effort to make the car more driveable & competitive for Solo2 (an oxymoron, I know) I have a fairly extensive list. Added work responsibilities and an upcoming 9 month cours...

Re: How much does it weigh?

Thought I'd add a bit more info to the already awesome data shared here... Exhaust_1.jpg The KAe's 358lbs vs the SRDET's 372lbs was much closer than expected (only 14lbs). I was curious how much did the turbo/exhaust on the SR account for that? KAe exhaust was missing the bottom collector which is i...

Re: Duke's'72 Carbed KA project

Thanks Duke, Another quick question - what did you use for steering shaft/UJoints off the Datsun column to the Escort rack? I can't get a clear image from your pictures. Specifically, were you able to use just a single U joint off the Datsun column and another one down at the rack? Was the angle wit...

Re: How much does it weigh?

more data!!! Wicked... Thanks for posting this. KAE is lighter than expected and the VQ somewhat heavier. I agree with the SR tranny idea for VQ/Lucky Dog. I'm wondering if the KA bell housing would match up better? Assuming the flywheel clears (which I've read that it does with light 'alterations'...

Re: Narrowing rear control arms

Lol, I do have a shitty memory so I looked up my old post on the Realm and it was a 15x8 et15 rim, not et10. No tire was fitted at the time but the rim cleared nicely out back (1/4"), not a chance up front though... My current setup is 195/60r14 Azenis 14x7 et0 with mild fender rolling (still l...

Re: Q35DE

Yes, if you can please weigh all 3 and what accessories were included. SR turbo stuff (~25-30lbs?) will likely put it on par with the other two.

If possible can you take a pic of the ka tranny butted up to the vq block and note the obvious issues?
