OK, after a bit of research, it looks like the appropriate turbo would be from either a Porsche 944 TurboS or Turbo 911. Since I'm sure both are VERY INexpensive (yeah right) anyone have any other ideas? Small diesel motor?

Do you or any of the other modern motor folks know what turbo would support 250-350hp, somewhat reliably, and (here's the kicker) came stock in some car. ie, available in junk yards. that means reasonable priced used.

Yeah, it's a vg30et, same swap as a vg30e... except the non turbo has a tight fit between the steering box and the exhaust manifold... The turbo crossover goes behind the motor! so you're gonna need to replumb that. My brother wants to do that to his vg30, but there will be a fair amount of exhaust ...

Kind of a fun fact about octane ratings... Here in Germany, they post the higher of the two Octane numbers. (I forget right now if that is the RON or MON) so they always say that the gas has a lower octane rating in north america. In all actuality, it is almost exactly the same gas. Just the numbers...

If the same car came with both IRS and a straight axle from the factory... I would think that the swap wouldn't be TOO hard...

You guys must be making some nutty horsepower (I know Keith is). 150mph isn't that easy to achieve, especially in a barn door, I mean a 510... As for keeping the same top end ratio with a 3.9 and .77, it's just 3.9*.77 which is 3.00. Now straying too far from that you can come off the horsepower pea...

The wagon looks great. Kind of Audi Allroad meets Scout II, but at the same time it's a big fuck off to SUVs. The sedan is just weird.
