Re: Rear crossmember bushings

After posting and looking at the factory parts book diagram - it would be impossible to assemble in the order drawn. The assembly drawing should actually look like this.... Factory Parts Book Rear Suspension Crossmember Bushings 3.jpg But in any case, I think you can see the order of the washers, la...

Re: Rear crossmember bushings

What I find amazing is that the rubber is stall attached to both washers. Dad's 510's were all fairly new cars, and my own wrenching was limited. By the time I started wrenching on my own 510's in the late 80's, this rubber was often in rough shape. Hopefully these photos of the FSM and the Factory ...

That’s a shame you had a set back. I tried to follow on IG, but it’s hard to follow what went wrong. I see reference to a Ratsun build thread, is there more there?

Been a while since the last update.
You mentioned in another thread that you were going the Hakobird route - did this pan out?
Love to see an update as to where you are at now.

Re: Mikuni Rebuild Schedule?

You may have mentioned a contributing factor - you say it doesn’t move much. Does that imply that it sits for long periods of time? If so, do you cut he pump and drain the fuel by idling the car down? If not, then fuel evaporating out of that carbs leaving residue behind certainly can be a problem. ...

Re: Rebuild, replace or swap moms 510 carb/engine?

Those points are definitely done! And do make sure you change the condenser at the same time - they fail and wear out just as frequently as the points. On my 68 which doesn't have a ballast resister, it sees to go through condensers quickly. Checking TDC#1 - just pull the plug and use a screw driver...

Re: Latest price of fuel

I wish we could all do a drive during the week as the hiways sure tend to be lighter overall. We can - and it's the same reason why track days have moved to week days - plain cheaper! Now it'll just cost you a day of work, plus fuel and wear and tear.... but I absolutely agree that it is worth it. ...

Re: New from Vladivostok, Russia with rare Nissan model

Interesting car - looks very much like a 710 coupe which we received here, and was known in other markets at a Violet. Welcome to the realm, we look forward to you sharing experiences from Russia. You'd bring a very unique perspective, in addition to members from Canada, US, South Africa UK, Portuga...

Re: Rebuild, replace or swap moms 510 carb/engine?

Mike has some awesome advice above - do follow it - BUT FIRST .... rule out all ignition issues before adjusting the carb. As the old adage goes, 95% of all carb issues - are in the ignition! And it’s very true. I also agree that it’s way too soon to write off the existing motor. Unless there is sig...

As a mod, I really wasn’t totally convinced we weren’t about to get spammed after I approved your intro - I gave you the benifit if the doubt. You have no idea what we mods need to filter through!

Anyways, welcome to the Realm, looks forward to your input.

Re: Front to Rear Brake Bias

A slightly more extreme option, when I painted the Bronze I did only two modifications, I installed a roll cage and I upgraded to a top reverse mount pedal box to get adjustable brake bias. At the time, the car actually still ran stock brakes! But I knew upgrades were imminent, I just wasn't positiv...

510 Day 2019 - Byron's place in Maple Ridge

510 Day 2019 The questions has been asked - Yes of course 510 Day is a go => Always! As usual I’ll supply a case or two of burgers for the grill - someone jumps in a takes a turn cooking. Food by donation as I do this personally every year. Bring a chair and a drink. Drop me a line so I can gauge i...

Re: better red than dead

Interesting that Mandy doesn’t like the headlight colour - I’m the same way with any of the blue spectrum light colours. To be honest, that’s why I went with the standard H4-H1 upgrade in the Bronze - only white in colour, definition in the rain is great- and no shortage of light. Cable upgrade note...

Re: 510 race car

The car is still around. Kerry was he last one who raced it. The car was hit on the pass side forward door area fairly hard, taking the car out of circulation. Tech inspectors noted in the log book the the roll cage would need to be changed. I was at Mission when this happened, saw and inspected the...

That’s an interesting custom trunk floor.... or am I looking at a modified floor and gas tank?
