Re: Five-Hundred and Ten

Just browsed through your photo album, great to see your documentation by photos. I am glad to see that your crossmember was not rotted through behind the factory inner bracket when you removed it. I have found a number of crossmembers lately- ones that looked much better than yours on the surface -...

Re: New member in Alberta

Welcome. I saw the Kijiji ad in Sask if that's the same car. It's on it's second set of floors and due again. Trunk floor is done, and it looks like the rockers have been done at least once. And it looks like it's had fairly good drivers side damage if the panels have been replaced as pictured. Not ...

Re: Cam etching/engraving decipering

Actually it may not be as strong as you think. I'm not sure what the duration is on the cam you have, as that can affect a compression test. My motor is a stock 2.2 bottom end like yours with a slightly milled head. I measured the CR on mine to be 10.7:1 with an early U-67 head. Compression was 185 ...

Re: All Japanese Classic '18 - August 26th - Waterfront Park

what about an autox? I’d love to have an AutoX organized on the same weekend, but I need people to run it. The show organization is just Richard and I, it’s a lot of work to make this show happen. Added to that, Richard also started a brand new family this year (yeah - congratulations) so his time ...

Re: Air Conditioning for 72 4 dr. w/vg30?

I’ll find a photo of the center mount air vent for the late style dash for you David, it’s the only one I’ve ever seen in person. However there is reference to it in the factory and Haynes manual drawings. The AC part for me isn’t the only thing I need. As noted earlier I removed the heater in my yo...

Re: Air Conditioning for 72 4 dr. w/vg30?

Nice job. I have a factory AC under dash unit, and an optional late style center dash fresh air vent. I’d love to incorporate one or both into my installation. Likely just the AC unit, but we’ll have to see. I still need the heater and AC box, condenser and dryer to mount somewhere with plumbing to ...

Re: Cam etching/engraving decipering

Sounds like Z22 pistons were used on a re-bore. These had the four valve reliefs which you mentioned. Sure it’s not a Z22 block? Is there an engine stamp pad on the drivers or LH side of the block - the opposite side of the oil filter? As for which gasket to use, for many years I have used the NapsZ...

Re: Air Conditioning for 72 4 dr. w/vg30?

Pics? I'd love to see details. In my youthful exuberance, I removed the heater out of the Bronze. Now in my mid 40's, I see the error in my ways! I have felt for many years that if I add a heater, I may as well add AC....with the compressor placed under that custom EFI manifold I made some years ago...

Re: Soon to be new 510 owner

Looks good. Diff looks like it might be an R180 (did I miss that in the post?) If so, it could be anything from a 3.36 to 4.62....

For the price, it's a good runner and a good base. I'd say you did well.

Re: Factory Tachometer Install with EI - Resistorr Size for use with EI Dizzy

As current is the same anywhere in a circuit, being ahead of the coil or after may not matter... BUT it must be in line. I do recall though reason of deduction that this inductive pick up won't work in line on the negative side from the coil on the way to the distributor. I am not an electronics gu...

Re: EFI Manifolds For Sale, IR for Datsun L-Series heads

No worries folks!

I have more new EFI manifolds coming... still working on making and getting 440 3ph to my milling machine. Actually I have an electrician coming over Friday to work on a final plan to get this done...time for a Shed update.

Sound like Dadzsun will be making the trip out from back east as well - that would be extra cool to have you both in attendance!

Re: Factory Tachometer Install with EI - Resistorr Size for use with EI Dizzy

If the tach is hooked up to (-) then it’s not wired as it should be stock. As Rob noted above, the 510 tach has an inductive pick up which works on the (+) side of the coil. The 510 harness never included the factory tach, the factory patch was to have a sub harness which plugged into the factory co...
