Re: Rear swing arm bolt

In the car and weight on the wheel, and the nut will move fairly easy as you can hang on the breaker bar. But he’s, the nut is Lee we over. And if you e already tried to move it without grinding off the leaned o ernoart, you e likely just screwed the threads on the stubbshaft. All would not be lost ...

Re: pertronix and fried spark plugs?

I would agree with Zkars and Rob - you'd need a ground to complete the circuit. BUT... you point to another issue. If grounded to the motor and you get no spark, that means the spark is going else where - like you have either a cross arc issue or a bad set of wires or cap where you spark is finding ...

Re: 510 chassis/subframe upgrades to compensate for added hp

I can throw another thought out there regarding strut tower braces. I have parted many 510's over the years. Rust on cars that were used in salt ravaged them pretty well. On car in particular had the upper box sections under the top of the fenders nearly rusted right off, with holes at the base of e...

Re: 510 chassis/subframe upgrades to compensate for added hp

Aside from the usual added seam welds, some will gusset/triangulate the upper box section under the front fenders to the vertical section of the lower A pillar. Those retaining the stock type recirc ball steering boxes will often gusset both sides of that frame rail when running sticky tires on road...

Re: New here!

Welcome. Glad to have you here. Hav have an actual Bob Stevens car - one of two full race cars that never saw the track in its day - or in Bobs day. It has now, but that’s a whole nother story. Love to see photos and hear more about your machine, and more importantly your connection with. On Stevens...

Re: DatsunNW & Canby, please read!!

Steve, we do thank you and the Datsun Northwest group for all the effort that resulted in great times that we’ve been able to enjoy. The Canby show was always a highlight to the start of summer. And you certainly did us all a great favour by brining both John Morton and Pete Brock to us here in the ...

Re: 2.3L of fun

If your thinking of doing your car we could work something out for you to use them. Now that sounds like an offer I can’t refuse. This is something I’ve always wanted to do. At a track day a couple years back, I had a pass/front pre-mature lock up issue that was particularly bad on one specific bra...

Re: FS: Datsun 510 Headlight relay adapter/upgrade

Do these allow you to upgrade your lights to H4s without the increased current load to the stock headlight switch? Plug and play? On the 69-73 harnesses, the light switch on the dash only switches the relay and there for shouldn’t have the extra load of the upgraded headlights on it anyways. I beli...

Good work Norm. Did you do the corner weights with your weight in the drivers seat?
Curious, which scales did you end up using or buying?

Re: westwood and race car pics

Try posting up a photo of the car, it may help.
There are some old timers here on the site, but a lot more that came up after Westwood, so photos would really assist in looking for a car.

Re: Trans slips 5th gear

I have the same issue in my Xterra in 3rd gear. My transmission guy told me years ago it has to do with the axial placement of the counter shaft holding the gears, and as Robyn noted above, it can be shimmed to correct the issue. But it does require complete disassembly as the shim would be placed o...

Re: Datsun Restomods CV showing at Byron's - Nov 25th 1-5 PM

Installation and driving impressions; The installation in Shawn's car was pretty straight forward, but did also require a change to the exhaust system. Shawn brought the car over earlier in the morning and we removed the stock half shafts. It was noted that the stock diameter exhaust put on this car...

Just in the interest of documenting the car and it's good photos after it's sold, I posted the photos here.
So few of the olive cars were saved in their original colour.
I suspect you'll sell this soon Dave.

Re: Hello from the island

Welcome to the Realm.
Admittedly, it's getting a little harder to find a 510 today than it was 15 years ago, but they are still out there - in all ranges of condition.

Can we assume Vancouver Island is home?

Look forward to seeing you out at the local events.
