Re: 280zx rear control arms on a 510 crossmember

I have the 82-83 control arms on my 510. I always tell people don't do it. I did it 25+ years ago so I could have rear disc brakes and strong mounts for coil overs. It required me to build a custom Penultimate cross member to deal with the increased track width and toe difference of the 280ZX arms. ...

Re: Diff swap: STI R160 LSD 4.44 Suretrac

Had a chance to machine those stub shafts yet? I'm in the need for a LSD diff and would like to know if grinding the shafts worked out.
Thanks, Cam.

Re: Diff swap: STI R160 LSD 4.44 Suretrac

I've removed the dust shields on my R160 stub axles so they would fit into my R180. That was over 20 years ago and I've never had a problem with the seals leaking from being exposed.

Re: Autocross Alignment Specs

I would agree with the stickier compound, smaller diameter tire suggestions. A 205/45R16 tire would be almost 1" smaller, 23" compared to 24", and would offer you more clearance and better gearing. Sticky tires will change your thought about gearing as well. When I first got my turbo 510 on the road...

Re: Duke's'72 Carbed KA project

That is a super cool install. I see that there are a bunch of different ratios available for the MKII , do you know what ratio you picked?

I used a vent that Spicer uses. The part number and a pic of it are about half way down on my post. http://www.the510realm.com/viewtopic.ph ... 0&start=15

Re: Cam's 510

Woah! ...don't you know that the Ministry of Magic considered the inside of that flapper box to be "black magic" so it is off limits to junior wizards like us?!? :P It's funny that the perception is that it shouldn't be tampered with, but it's so simple to adjust for more airflow and bigger injecto...

Re: Cam's 510

is your idol just a hair to high ? it might be pulling timing at idol . if i set the idol at anything over 850 on my sr it will have a funky idol . is the ecu able to read the timing ? or is it all mechanical ? The idle is all over the place. Sometimes it high, sometimes its just right, and other t...

Re: Cam's 510

The SVO injectors come from 30 year old cars and I wanted to clean and test them before I put them on the car. I saw a video on Youtube of a cleaner that a guy built himself. I built a simular unit and ran a bottle of injector cleaner through them. They all tested fine and the spray patterns were go...

Re: Cam's 510

The car was running rich at idle and as I accelerated. I adjusted the airflow meter and got it to the right AFR according to my narrow band AFR gauge. The engine would pull hard but as soon as the RPM started to build it would run out of fuel at 5 lbs of boost and I would have to back out of the tho...

Re: Cam's 510

I've been trying to sort out some runability issues. The first one is a hard starting and uneven idle problem. I've checked the TPS, tested the coolant sensor, cleaned out the IAC valve, and tested the fuel pressure with no results. The IAC valve appears to be a Japan only thing and I have no idea h...

Re: Cam's 510

I wanted to install a new pilot bushing so I pulled the old one and drove in the new one. I didn' want to have to pull the clutch and flywheel to install the bushing so I made a bushing installer out of a rear control arm bolt on my lathe.

Re: Cam's 510

My transmission had some horrific bearing noise and needed to be rebuilt. My dad suggested a guy who had done some trans. work for him before with good results. I contacted the guy and he said he could do it in two weeks. I pulled the trans and called him two weeks later. He told me it would be two ...

Re: Cam's 510

The rear suspension uses 280ZX control arms and brakes with GAB coilovers from a Subaru Legacy wagon. I built a Pendultimate adjustable rear crossmember with custom pick up points and brackets to fix the geometry trouble with the 280ZX control arms. The crossmember is mounted in poly bushings and ha...
