Re: Mikuni's going rich after high lateral G's

What are you using to read your AFR on your cars setup? I have thought about installing one but haven't yet. I'd be Interested to see what works for us carb guys.

Re: New potential products for 510's and Datsun from Mattndew76

Can I throw a wrench into the mix?

Bell housing adapter to mate an S15 transmission to an l series block. This has been done before. But some of us are lazy and want bolt on :).

FYI, this transmission has been used in many cars including the rx8 and altezzas.

Re: Mikuni's going rich after high lateral G's

I too have experienced the same issues in my 510 race car. It has left me stumped for quite a while. I will admit I am slightly intimidated by the mikuni's. Has anyone figured out a solution? Here is a video if it happening to me at a race this summer. The car had to be push started to get it going....

Re: Custom L16 Exhaust header

The last header Nissan Comp sold in the US for L16/18 race engines had 1.625" primaries, 31" long and a 3" collector. I can vouch that this header is a royal pain in the arse when it comes to fitment. You are better off pulling the engine than to try and take the header out by itself. The 3 inch co...

Re: 510 scrub radius and wheel fitment calc

The biggest thing on my 510 was getting rid of the rear positive toe change, THAT just transformed the car back in the early 80's and has now benefited most on this site, to keep the rear inline with an imperfect independent suspension. These two books were my bibles for a lot of years, long before...

Re: 510 scrub radius and wheel fitment calc

Having a race car that you need to learn about forces you do dive into the depths of the internet

Even more interesting.. having adjustable camber plates and lower control arms effectively alters the scrub radius as well...

Re: 510 scrub radius and wheel fitment calc

I'd like to revise this old thread after doing some research... Does anyone know what the "original" scrub radius of the 510 is? By my calculations.. running 13x7 libres with a 20x9.5x13 slick increases the scrub radius by nearly 34mm! At what point does increasing the scrub radius become a hinderan...

Re: Tire wheel clearance setup gizmo page

THANK YOU!!!.

This has me really wondering /playing around with being able to fit 15x8 -15x9 inch wheels on the 510 race car. After seeing the E Prepared national champ just put 16x12 wide wheels with 12.5 slicks on the back of his AE86 Corolla... I want wider!

http://www.biodiesel-kits-online.com/methanol.html Not bad really, considering what a gallon jug costs at Home Depot. I know in my methanol system, it ate a lot of things....till I figured out what worked. re the valve seats, I agree with Ok, that rebello would use steel. I have had steel seats in ...

Re: 4 Cylinder L Series E85 conversion..

Just to clarify:

I am wondering about this conversion on an L18 race engine. The car only has a 3 gallon fuel cell. It runs cosworth pistons with a CR near the 14:1 mark.

4 Cylinder L Series E85 conversion..

Okay, this one is pretty self explanatory. I will put my flame suit on for this one.. I have seen several articles where some Solo2 racers have converted their "old" european race cars to Ethanol. My rudimentary understanding of this process is such: • Lines, tank and pump need to be ethanol capable...

Re: L18 Crankcase Breather Outlet - Need solution

Mike,

I know on my setup the cam spray bar inlet is coming in on the right side. I think the issue outlined by keith is that this may be caused by the spray bar, especially one that may or may not be flowing more oil than intended.

Re: L18 Crankcase Breather Outlet - Need solution

Your doing fine, your path is correct. Back in the 80's, at the season start of my second generation 2 liter, we blocked off the block breather hole. This was at the same time we tried a bigger and different camshaft profile, and, installed the spray bar. Now, my season start was usually the Knox m...

Feel free to enlighten me?

I'm not missing something here in regards to the earlier solution discussed in this thread: The removal of the outlet pipe, modifying it and then inserting it back into the block am I?

Re: L18 Crankcase Breather Outlet - Need solution

That would be the way to do it with the engine being built.

Also, the outlet on my block is not the same as yours. I will be looking into removing the pressed in breather pipe and having an AN fitting welded on to that after cutting it down.
