Re: 1970 Wagon DD, Chunk

Just wait until you finish that Nuke school, then once you get your big bonus, if they still do that, you would have plenty of money to throw at that sucker!! Or is that when you re-enlist? Congrats on the start of your navy career, I'm ending mine after almost 22 years!! "Big Bonus" Lol....

Re: 1970 Wagon DD, Chunk

I plan on having exterior and door jambs done, same color, if not a touch creamier white. probably within the next three months. Need to save a bit more and get everything in order. Also knee deep in Nuclear Power School with the Navy, so limited to working weekends. I have most of the seals I need,...

Re: 1970 Wagon DD, Chunk

Chunk made it out to South Carolina. Have been neglecting this thread, mostly update Ratsun. Havent done much to the car besides drive the piss out of it. Made multiple 600mile trips to Georgia, and driven all around town. No longer a daily driver, got a toyota pickup so I can take some stress off t...

Re: 1970 Wagon DD, Chunk

Yeah thanks. I just dropped the car off at storage so its officially out of my hands till this fall, or whenever I can have it shipped to me. I wont have a whole lot of project time, so I will most likely be relying on places like upholstery shops, powder coaters and the body shop over the corse of ...

Re: 72 510 Wagon, First Car, New Experience

Doesn't sound like a bad deal at all! When I had my a87 head rebuilt I had two new valves installed, along with bead blasting, lap job and valve stem seals for 150, but it was through a friend and they didnt mill or weld. 300 doesnt sound bad for what they are doing. Be sure that if they mill it you...

Re: 1970 Wagon DD, Chunk

Well I forgot a fitting for the air shocks when I went to install at the hangar so it was riding on bump stop on the way home last night. Today I fixed shocks and aired up, no more rub but bottoms out on big bumps.. Since it was riding on bump stop with me my buddy and the old axle, halfway home it ...

Got speedo back. Was expensive but at least I have a certificate of accuracy and the trip works. Also got my differential problem solved and lowered the car. Still have some work to do but things are looking good! Donor diff from another wagon. http://i.imgur.com/3ARJQOK.jpg http://i.imgur.com/2NDcn...

Re: 1970 Wagon DD, Chunk

:O Well I got one. This makes me wonder about the history of the car. When I first got into the dast I dont remember evidence of it being torn apart before. All the screws were in place, and nothing had the usual chips/removal scars like you see. I also have white needles. Not sure how rare that is ...

Re: 1970 Wagon DD, Chunk

No real progress as of yet, but I just wanted a quick update. Car is doing good. Had 4th gear pop put twice, but I attribute that to a tight shifter boot and poor shifting technique on my part. Been careful to make sure its really in there and it hasn't popped out again. I also got a complete drum t...

Re: 72 510 Wagon, First Car, New Experience

You have to walk before you can run, and without a running car you're gunna be walking. I am 19 and broke, and my wagon is my DD, so coming from the heart here: I would personally invest that cash into what the car needs to get it on the road. 350 bucks can get you a long ways if youre good at deal ...

How do I drain the float bowls?
Look at the front of the carb, where the glass is. Directly below the glass their are two small bolt heads side by side, they are plugs for the main jets. Remove either one to drain the float bowl.
