Re: Jordan's '72 2 door KA project

In this instalment of never ending Datsun projects: Josh spec Altima water pump, eBay rad, custom Mitsubishi Evo 4 intercooler, and oil filter block mods for turbo oil feed. Altima Water Pump After seeing pics of Josh K's water pump setup, I was convinced that was a good route to go to gain the much...

Re: Jordan's '72 2 door KA project

Byron, I agree on the custom stuff. So cool but so terribly unfortunate if something ever happens to it. I fear curbs greatly with my tubular rear control arms since it would be disastrous to bend or break one!

I haven't pulled the trigger on an oil cooler yet but will keep y'all posted.

Re: 2.3L of fun

Wouldn’t it make sense that the ramp angle in the diff controls the slope of the transient conditions on the graph above?

Congrats on getting a track day under your belt! Some follow up work required but there are certainly guys out there worse off.

I stumbled upon this 4G63 tidbit today... 6.20 1/4 mile and 1HP/cc! https://youtu.be/Quk8HYRHgGI

Re: Offset camber plates - yes or no with Adj TC rods

I’m rebuilding my camber plates to allow about 1” rearward movement of the top hats. The spotted mounting holes in my Ground Control camber plates don’t provide enough movement at all. And they make it a huge pain to remove and install since the bolts aren’t captive in the upper plate.

Re: tire choices -- aggressive summer -VTO wheels - BS >>?

Jeff also noted last night that a 225/45 and 205/50 stagger on 15s is doable with the R888rs as well.

The 17s would likely be heavier and would certainly have more inertia. Probably not the most noticeable on the street but I would bet that lap times would show it.

Hey Jeff!
Nice to meet up with you the other day!
Glad to see the updates. It's a pretty cool thing to look back on one day.

Re: tire choices -- aggressive summer -VTO wheels - BS >>?

right now with ZX struts and 0 offset wheels there is about 1/2" space to the strut with the gecko coilovers in it- once i change to "normal" ZX struts with internal insert it will be more- .. 12mm may be too much but can space out - the rears with 0- with the car set so the wheel tucks- has 2.5-3 ...

Re: Steering column thread pitch

Triangle files have worked for farmers for years!

Better yet is a thread file (of the right pitch) if you don’t want to chase the threads with a die.

Re: R200 LSD options/setup

Are you using a bending beam or click type torque wrench?

Need a bending beam to really do this accurately.

I can help you work through the force/moment balance later.

Re: B210 brake booster install

I’ve spent hours fighting air until I reverse bled them. Get an old school oil pump can and hose and push fluid from the bleed nipple back to the master. A turkey baster is good for pulling the reject fluid out of the master as you go. It hasn’t failed me yet.

Re: Diff modifications

Yep. Even an R180 from a newer subi would probably be up for the task if it uses some good oil and isn’t hooned. Different types of LSDs available (in NA anyways).

I would exhaust a few of the easier options before I redid everything for a different rear end.

Re: 71 Halloween Pumpkin Build Unflared

+1 for Scremin turbo SR! Those look like R34 brembos? They're pretty big! Will take some fancy footwork to get them inside 16s let alone 15s. Perhaps something like the Datsport brackets to offset everything inward would help gain some caliper clearance? http://www.datsport.com/brake-front-caliper-m...

Yes!

While you're at it, take the time to get your driveline angles correct. It'll be worth it... I'm doing mine all over again. Hopefully for the last time!
