Re: B.C. BURNS

Yeah. I can corroborate that the air up here is terrible. There's a weird orange hue in the air. I've seen blue sky once in the last week. Hospital is at 2x capacity with Williams Lake folks. We are a little isolated from the mass exodus (~ 11k folks) because the highway is closed between us and Wil...

Re: NVH Issues

I ended up with lots of spacers above my moustache bar in the ka 510. I'll say the goal 1 more time just to maximize confusion. You want the pinion shaft and output shaft of the trans to have parallel misalignment. This means that the working angles of both cardan joints are the same and opposite. K...

Re: CV Failure

FWIW most people here just use the OE Nissan CV's out of R31/C32/910/R32 etc with no hassles - just shorten and respline the CV shaft. I've yet to hear of a failure from them. I've often wondered if the reason I keep reading about these US style CV conversions failing is that they use a Birfield ty...

Re: B.C. BURNS

Yes, Quesnel the gold city. Smoke and choppers when the smoke clears!

Today it's been clearer. We're all watching the dragon mountain fire but it's small potatoes in the grand scheme of things.

Re: B.C. BURNS

1500 hectare fire south of town here has some people scared and many on evac alert. Lots of evacuees coming up from Williams Lake and surrounding areas are inhabiting parks in town in Quesnel.

Re: CV Failure

Rock Auto should have them too if you can nail down the OEM application. Then you won't have to pay the ECS markup.

Re: CV Failure

Probably a knee jerk reaction without really understanding the problem... if there's no grease, we'll just add a way for it to get in.

That sounds like a good first step Lou.

Re: CV Failure

Why are grease fittings on cvs a good thing? Read an FSM... there's a specified amount of grease that should be in the boots and when they don't leak if sealed properly. Case in point as mentioned by chickenman. I would not be regreasing CVs even if they had zerks. Too much grease and it'll squeeze ...

Yes I certainly owe you a ride! I'm not sure if I'll be in town for that weekend or not. We'll see--I'll keep you posted.

Re: Silvia

Made some progress on Silvia the other weekend. I've had a busy time juggling work, fun weekends and car stuff these days. Needless to say, I'm very happy to have Silvia up north now albeit not totally finished. Spent some time near Jasper for work/fun, Bowron Lake Circuit, and Cariboo Mountain hiki...

Re: Spring Rate Feedback

It's all in the shocks. I'm at 275 Front and 250 rear with shocks that are well matched. It's not all that harsh. No one else complains about the compliance of the ride.

Re: Fred's 73 2dr 510

Fred, having driven both my car (stock Ka24DE 3.7 LSD) and Jeff's car (NA SR20DE 3.9 rear IIRC), the KA is torqued and peppier feeling I think. Maybe I just drive my car harder than I drove his!! The SR felt quite Honda-esque to me without a turbo on it. Jeff's point about the lack of plentiful KAs ...
