Re: Metric Fasteners

Fastenal is pretty reasonable. Buy a pack of 25 nice stainless bolts and they'll find plenty of homes on a rusty old Datsun... Ask me how I know! :D

Re: Narrowing rear control arms

I like s13/14/15 parts for the cartridge rear bearings. 4 and 5 lug availability. :D

The lights look goofy but the results sure look great! Can you post a link to the ones you found? What wattage and lumens? I found these https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B019JCPTBO/ref=pd_aw_sim_sbs_263_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=3ZDYTQEW8MAKE7YYRRPE And these https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B01HYB9T...

Very nice! Congrats on getting the kit. You'll have to let us know how it drives once done!

Re: Upgrading rear diff

Mine seemed to be okay. It was an s13 vLSD with 5x1 r32 skyline gtst output shafts.

Re: Upgrading rear diff

Hmmm. I understand what you mean now... the c clip groove on the output shafts won't work very well given the offset switch from one side to the other. Maybe try to assemble the whole thing and see if there's enough forgiveness in the whole output shaft to absorb the changes?

Re: Upgrading rear diff

I've been there done that. S13 vLSD into a 3.9 z31 NA long nose r200. I kept the original long nose spacers and shims on the carrier. Swapped the long nose ring onto the vLSD carrier and reassembled. Didn't check backlash etc but it all felt fine. Certainly not 8mm out. I did not mess with anything ...

Re: 2.3L of fun

Did you inspect the worn out diff before it went in?
What oil did you run?

Re: Rear discs with internal drum handbrake?

I used z32/r32 rear calipers with internal drum ebrake. The r32 setup requires a lot of depth behind wheel mounting flange that just isn't there on a 510 control arm. I ended up making custom control arms that are well documented in my build thread. FFS all the pics are dead. http://www.the510realm....

Yes! I'm keeping the 510. I have some cool stuff up my sleeve for the winter!

Re: What's wrong with my diff??

Oh very good to know. Maybe we can arrange a batch rate for all 3! :D

I have a few good diffs I can pick from to toss in the car for the meantime.

Re: What's wrong with my diff??

Loctite 638 is in the back of my mind. It has the same strength as an FN4 press fit so it's pretty sweet stuff. 4500psi shear strength.

That's a good idea. I'll look into an sti temp sensor.

Re: What's wrong with my diff??

I'm sure it wouldn't be too cool... I will gather some data on that though. Maybe I should go for something in between something standard 75W90 and something crazy. 75W110 has improved properties that are probably pretty reasonable. I just did some reading on Redline Shockproof Heavy and people in m...

Re: “Golddust” – Jordan’s RB26 twin turbo powered S14 260SX

So I've put a whole 4km on the car this year. With a heavy heart I announce that this will be coming up in the classifieds in the near future. It will have a working differential by then! :) Stay tuned! https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4257/34887781894_19e55f56a7_h.jpg I'm also going to list my 1990 A...
