Front brake caliper sliders?

can someone explain how a stock 1972 510 front brake caliper works. when i look online at service manuals it kind of looks like they all only pivot at the top. i have never owned a car this old, and i know parts are hard to get so before i dig in and F it up maybe someone can just chime in. i my pad...

Re: 4age into 510?

I have zero love for Ka's and Sr's. Ka's are closer to ok but Sr's are garbage from what i have seen. In my experience SR20DETs suffer from the same flaw as pitbulls... irresponsible owners. -McWicked TOUCHE! Thats fair, all the ones i encounter are in daily drifted vehicles. minus the odd one in a...

Stock ka's do decent at the track, single and dual cams. i thought about the ka but then i basically need to buy a 240sx for a donor car which feasibly i cant do with all my projects

Re: 4age into 510?

You kept up this line of attack earlier, when you were stymied by basic electrical. oh your right, im a retard for being unable to find a schematic for my problem my bad, end of the day it runs. and i still have no idea what the relay circuit is that was the problem, i just converted the headlight ...

Re: 4age into 510?

i hate carbs man, i have owned a couple old cars, bought brand new carbs, rebuilt old carbs, still always been a problem. Sr's are garbage from what i have seen, i watch them blow up regularly at the track. Ka's seem to last a bit better but still have timing chain issues. and dont even get me start...

Re: 4age into 510?

so many people say the 4a is weak, dont get me wrong its not a powerhouse. but maybe mines a diamond in the rough, its just a stock 4age with a cold air intake gets me thru drift events, often. and i have nitrous for it as well. but i personally havent run the bottle in the car yet. i dont belive th...

Re: 4age into 510?

ok well i will take all that into account. for me the biggest selling feature is A) i have it, B) it runs and C)it doesnt have a carb.(i have never had luck with carbs) I have zero love for Ka's and Sr's. Ka's are closer to ok but Sr's are garbage from what i have seen. maybe i will keep searching, ...

4age into 510?

has anyone thrown a 4age from an ae86 into the 510? i see alot of ka's which would make sense. My drift 86 still runs strong, but lacks power for its purpose. so why waste it, Maintain the stock 510 displacement, and gain EFI. I already have everything i need, and i know its of good condition. My pr...

Re: New from nanaimo

Well finally some progress, after weeks of chasing the electrical demon, and trying to identify the mystery relay, i was able to repair the ignition circuit in my 72. i cleaned all the connections/grounds and vinegar bathed wiring connections. after removing the engine and dash harness. Wiring is fa...

Re: help identifying this relay

Re: help identifying this relay

your probably correct, perhaps i will not mess with it. the thing that concerns me is all the wires from the 4 prong relay on the drivers side of the radiator (this is what i think is the dual point stuff) 3 wires are all wrapped together and fed to the one wire going into the distributor. i mean it...

Re: help identifying this relay

i am sort of toying with the idea of ripping it all back out and simplifying the harness. Can you help me do this please. im going for super super basics. car is a 72 datsun 510 with an auto. i am ok with bypassing all the safety start shit. so technically what all does the car require to run. http:...

Re: help identifying this relay

Where do the wires from this one go to? The only other six-pin connector showing on my diagram is for the voltage regulator, which has a set of different wire colors.
