Re: 510 angled brake pads question

Someone once explained to me (as a teenager - in shop class – as in a shop teacher) that this design was supposed to be a self-energizing design of brake system.... You had a good shop teacher. That's it exactly. When you apply force to a wedge shaped pad, the pad attempts to align itself parallel ...

Re: Let's get one thing straight!!!

The debate on how to pronounce Nissan is much easier. It's clearly knee-sahn. Pronouncing it Niss Anne grates on my nerves almost as much as the clowns who insist on pronouncing the L in solder and salmon.

Re: Lets get one thing straight!!!

So in Canada they pronounce it completely wrong, and are proud of it... is that the gist of this thread?

When I went to Japan in the 90's, I was surprised to hear that Datsun was actually a 3 syllable word. Sounded like "DOT-to-sahn".

Re: CNC L Series Rocker Arms

Even Nissan was smart enough to support that suspension bridge. Yeah "I" beams tend not to work as well when you cut the "I" out of them. There's also not much in this design that would prevent torsional deflection. Nor is there anything to dampen resonance in the thinner unsupp...

Re: Pre-Bent Brake Lines for 510?

The only thing I never liked about bending my own lines wasn't the bending part... it was getting the stupid things straight! The radius look good, but the straight sections looked all wavy-gravy. Thankfully, we have a tubing straightener at work. So when it comes time to slap new lines in my 510 th...

Re: Windshield Seal

The problem with most aftermarket rubber is that it's not as ozone resistant, nor as thermally and UV stable as the OEM product. What happens is that you get a wide variance in experience based on how much the person actually drives their car and how much direct sunlight it receives. So you got one ...

From a prospectus buyer the smoking pot comment caught me off guard. Poor judgement. Just saying. It might have a negative vib on the business front. Beware what you say. And as I get older, I'm not affraid to let you know how I feel. Thanks, Ron Yeah... I love this country. I love well-made parts ...

Re: Post a pic of your Dime.

I actually have seen this happen on another forum. Here's the skinny... Most smart phones store the orientation the pic was taken in as an encoded EXIF extension within the image. If your browser or device supports Apple's EXIF data, then it always appears right side up. If not... lulz ensue. -McWic...

Re: New potential products for 510's and Datsun from Mattnde

IMHO, I would make the leading and trailing edge the same as the OEM , not square, basically a copy of the original. Everybody would like to see an exact replica of the original, but you're not going to get that with a CNC machine. Even coming close to the original design would drive the costs into...

Re: New potential products for 510's and Datsun from Mattnde

If I had a Makerbot I would print these out. Yeah, the problem is that a C-pillar vent has no perfectly flat side to rest on. So the software would have to add a bunch of support guides that you'd have to cut off and sand after the print job finished. Then you'd have to run it through an acetone va...
