Re: Removable radiator support

i just cut out the top rad support and made plates and insert nuts to reassemble it. Done 3, plenty strong.
You can see the cut lines in the picture. they are exactly in line with vertical sides of the rad opening

Re: Knox Mountain 2019

We are making the usual pilgrimage. Yes given the forecast I am unlikely to bother charging the AC after this years "improvements"...

Would really hate to see this event become the victim of the righteous, but it's likely inevitable. Enjoy it while you can!

Re: Rack And Pinion exploration

Finally I have some important news to share. The Futofab orange line sway bar for SR/KA swaps does fit with the V3 JBC rack and pinion cross member. I just installed it and have the car on the ground. There is only one point of interference. My A10 front sump oil pan touches the bar at the back left...

Re: Rack And Pinion exploration

There is room both above and below the shaft to run header pipes. If I had more time I'd make a custom header with two pipes going above and two below joining in the collector further downstream. A short un-equal length header like this is far from ideal but for now....

Re: Rack And Pinion exploration

Alright we got the exhaust all flanged up without having to hammer or dent anything. It did take some fancy footwork. First I took a shorty header I had laying around and made it even shorty-er. The last two inches of the individual pipes are straight just before they enter the collector, so CHOP an...

Re: Rack And Pinion exploration

I know I know, custom parts make custom work necessary. Just curious what others may have done. Hmmmm. Clamp header in BIG vise on heavy bench, insert 6 foot large pipe in collector, and PULL (in right direction). Create clearance as needed with ball peen. Grind 'just a little" off the steering u-jo...

Re: Rack And Pinion exploration

But the immediate challenge is exhaust routing. That new steering column ujoint thingy goes right through a very important piece of real estate that the exhaust likes to use. I was using a stock L manifold and just tossing it on here before dinner made my appetite kind of disappear..... The down pi...

Re: Rack And Pinion exploration

Well here it is March 2019 and I'm finally at the engine install stage. The R&P install went pretty well, and I have the front sump A10 oil pan clearing the new rack with just the expected left side rack bushing mount "dimple" that I had to add to get enough clearance. Depending on where I put the f...

Re: Where to Stick the Stick? Dip stick ideas required LZ24 front sump

The engine is a Rebello build 2.4. It has a A87 peanut head and some nasty cam the Dave supplied. I've been running a pair of 42mm Z SU's on it, but it's going to get a set of Jenvey Heritage throttle bodies (look like Webers, hidden injectors underneath) this year and better exhaust. It dynoed at 2...

Re: Where to Stick the Stick? Dip stick ideas required LZ24 front sump

The stock location at the back left now points into the shallow end of the pan. I put a front sump pan on the motor due to the rack and pinata conversion.

Re: Where to Stick the Stick? Dip stick ideas required LZ24 front sump

So I have the Ford dipstick parts and I've started the pan modifications. The one detail that might make this system a bit less than ideal, is the the static oil level in the pan when full, is well above the top of the adapter flange, making the static oil level somewhere up in the dipstick tube. Ty...
