Wouldn't it be a hoot if that tapered cone bearing was the same as the inner front wheel bearing? Nah..... What are the chances?
But there might be a wheel bearing that works somewhere.... just saying...

Re: Color Code Confusion
Rad support is original. It has the remains of the bends and folds on the left front corner received upon gently encountering a tree in 1980, that took it out of service until I purchased it recently. I’ve tried to remove and re-apply that sticker previously, and there is no way it can be done flawl...

Color Code Confusion
I recently acquired an all original 69 510 4 Dr. The color code markings don’t match. The sticker on the rad support says 818, but the stamp on the rad support says 817. Quick search suggests 817 is Houston Yellow, 818 is green, which the car is. No chance it was repainted. It’s green in every nock ...

Re: FM Transmitter for Mike Y.
Those were the days. I can vividly remember installing the cassette decks, amps equalizers and speakers in all my 70’s Datsun’s. My friends had 8 tracks, but I was the guy who had to have the latest, which was cassettes at the time. I remember wanting more volume and jumped on new speakers that had ...

Re: Favorite Roads
Closer to home, we often drive from Calgary to Kelowna for the May long weekend Knox Mountain hill climb. We leave Thursday to Cranbrook, then do the rest on Friday. Two ferry’s, and nothing but light traffic and fun fun roads all the way to Vernon. Including lunch in Kaslo, if you hit the ferry’s r...

Re: Rack And Pinion exploration
Great feedback icehouse, thanks. I suppose I should say I have a 2.4 escort rack for sale now. What did I say this last one cost? $363 CAD? Guess I’ll ask $360..... Or whatever anyone offers that’s not silly.... It is slightly lightened from the rub spot with the oil pan, and a small amount of one b...

Re: Rack And Pinion exploration
Greetings fellow R&P'ers!!! This update is due to my replacement of the existing MotorSport-Tools.com Escort rack with a new one from them. This one has a higher lock to lock ratio, 2.9 verses the 2.4. Turns out (steering joke, sorry...) that the low speed steering effort with the sticky tires i...

Re: 510 seat belt kit
Just found this new seat belt kit listed! The upper loop mounting point DOES utilize the factory captive nut location in the headliner, HOWEVER, they designed it to DROP the actual seat belt loop down about 10 inches, which was my complaint about that upper mounting point.............it carried the...

Re: FS5W71B Swap Issues
Rule of 92. 92 mm from the flywheel friction surface up to the throwout bearing carrier collar’s little tabs where the clutch fork touches. The clutch cover has to be bolted down to the flywheel so the fingers are at the right position, then place the assembled throwout collar and bearing on the fin...

Re: TA 71B #2 Tranny
All the pictures I took doing transmission rebuilds this year, and not one of the kit box contents... 6 Nachi roller bearings, 1 little roller sleeve pin bearing (front end of main shaft), 5 synchros, front and rear oil seals, front cover gasket. That’s it. I was able to get the other sleeve bearing...

Re: TA 71B #2 Tranny
I’ve bought what turned out to be the IDENTICAL kit from transmissionpartsdistributors.com, Drivetrain.com and from rockauto. Look for the BK104WS part number. The rockauto part began with ZM. All had identical contents (Nachi bearings). Rockauto was much cheaper than the others Including the shippi...

Found a Silicon Valve cover Gasket source
I found a partial gasket set in the trunk of a recently acquired parts car. It was APEX brand, one I hadn't seen before. Finally emptied the box out today to stash away the gaskets on my wall-o-gaskets, and found an interesting valve cover gasket made of silicon. The gasket PN is AFS5004. I found th...

68 510 Headlight trims
I found a set of 68 headlight bezel trims in a 72 parts car. Some very light rust, mostly dirty. Straight. Asking $100 USD for the pair including postal shipping within Canada or the lower 48. 1CC4D697-5962-41C1-934F-2379B3AD3847.jpeg BA3A709B-6FD1-4C03-959F-5D099A4B9C39.jpeg ACDEF4DD-17B9-4308-93B9...
