Re: All Japanese Classic '17 - Vancouver BC Aug 27

I just remembered to register this morning! Been planning on coming for months. Just woke up apparently.
Thanks for putting on this show again, I know it will be a grand success.

Should be there in the 510 unless someone out there wants to buy my Z!

Re: Road & Track: why stiff springs = less grip

All I read was "Let's show everyone how smart we are and how dumb the masses are about springs and traction, and prove it using simplistic examples that leave out all the real world stuff that disproves our point". Perhaps all that can be written about cars has been done so many time that ...

Re: WTB Release Bearing Holder for 4spd transmission

Remember the rule of 92? The distance from the flywheel friction surface to the back of the ears on the throw out bearing collar where the fork touches, has to be 92mm +/- a couple. Yes this means you have to buy the clutch first, bolt it to the flywheel, measure from the surface to the tips of the ...

Re: Question to the L4 engine building guru's re cam oiling

Thanks Wiz, it is time to re-read that chapter of the Bible. I read that thing about one every 10 years, which is NOT often enough to remember details anymore.

I'm assuming you mean this

http://www.datsport.com/racer-brown.html

Chapter 5 has the relavent data on cam oiling and how to improve it.

Re: Question to the L4 engine building guru's re cam oiling

Thanks for the reply boys. Leaves with a couple of unanswered questions though. First, what is the reasoning that adding a spray bar is considered necessary? Is the stock cam oiling considered inadequate in general or is this simply a race engine/high RPM/high load durability measure? It's plain tha...

Question to the L4 engine building guru's re cam oiling

Today I have what might possibly be a silly question about cam oiling, and more specifically about auxiliary cam oiling, The LZ24 block/A87 L20B headed beast in my 69 510 came with an auxiliary oiling spray bar attached to the inside of the valve cover, plumbed to a T at the oil pressure sender. Now...

Re: Swapping mount studs to bolt on Differential

Doing this stud to bolt conversion has saved me endless hours of hassle on Z's and 510's.

They are M12 x 1.75 threads in the diff covers for R160 and R180 you got that right. Lock washers are required.

Just measure the stud threads and get a bolt the same length. 30mm is probably just fine.

Re: NVH Issues

I'm going through this as well. As to where to measure the angles, I'd remove the drive shaft and measure the vertical face of the diff flange and the end of the output shaft on the trans. That works on a L trans anyway. Unless is very obvious that those yoke faces are in line with the shaft, but wh...

Re: Replacing those old dirty...umm missing lines?

Some Z buddies on another forum just got a fantastic deal for Copper Nickle lines from thestopshop.com. He bought two roles of 3/16, 1 of 1/4, 2 of 5/16 and it was $200 CDN! Shipped from a Canadian warehouse, no duty and fast shipping. He called them direct and got better pricing than even their web...

Re: Replacing those old dirty...umm missing lines?

I'm chatting with another Z buddy over on Classiczcar about the high cost of these copper nickle lines. We found a couple of options. Thestopshop.com has great deals, and Canadian Tire of all places stocks the common sizes in 25ft rolls too at a decent price.
