Re: NVH Issues

I'm going through this as well. As to where to measure the angles, I'd remove the drive shaft and measure the vertical face of the diff flange and the end of the output shaft on the trans. That works on a L trans anyway. Unless is very obvious that those yoke faces are in line with the shaft, but wh...

Re: Replacing those old dirty...umm missing lines?

Some Z buddies on another forum just got a fantastic deal for Copper Nickle lines from thestopshop.com. He bought two roles of 3/16, 1 of 1/4, 2 of 5/16 and it was $200 CDN! Shipped from a Canadian warehouse, no duty and fast shipping. He called them direct and got better pricing than even their web...

Re: Replacing those old dirty...umm missing lines?

I'm chatting with another Z buddy over on Classiczcar about the high cost of these copper nickle lines. We found a couple of options. Thestopshop.com has great deals, and Canadian Tire of all places stocks the common sizes in 25ft rolls too at a decent price.

Re: CV Failure

I've been thinging alot about this, as I have had problems with Futofab CV's too. Not this problem, but I digress. First question, do you have a spray of CV grease on the underside of your car immediately around the CV at the place where the grease supposedly left the joint and was the joint all sli...

Re: Replacing those old dirty...umm missing lines?

My advice is primarily not to use steel lines. The newer Copper/Nickle alloy lines are better, softer and easier to work with. May be too late for you now if you've ordered.

Re: WTB: Steering Box Plug

The McMaster no ship to canada is BS. I've been parts from them for the past year. They used to have that policy a long time ago. At least I hope like hell they haven't changed back.....

Make sure setup an on-line account with them, and it should be fine.

Aftermarket Engine Mounts - CRAP

So I purchased a couple of new engine mounts from Rock Auto. Beck Arneley 1040827. When they arrived, I was surprised by a couple of things. The first of course is the apparent quality. The metal plate these these are made from is about 20 gauge tin rather than the ~3/16 thick plate on the stock one...

Re: Electronic (EI) Ignition module failure. Recovery mode and trouble shooting

I walked into the local aut parts emporium I deal with (Auto Value) and asked for a GM ignitor for an 87 caprice 5L. There are about 150 GM products that had that module. LX301 is the Ac Delco part number I think. They said they had two kinds, standard and premium. $98 for the standard and $160 for ...

Re: Electronic (EI) Ignition module failure. Recovery mode and trouble shooting

Rock Auto has listings for them between $140-180 CDN. They are still available, but pricey. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/nissan,1981,280zx,2.8l+l6,1209338,ignition,ignition+control+module+(icm),7172 A good GM ignitor (pertronix or Accel) is more like a $100 shipped. Since I'm getting away fro...

Re: Electronic (EI) Ignition module failure. Recovery mode and trouble shooting

Another note about these EI modules After running around today doing errands, with the 'new' EI module, I've noticed significantly better overall performance and start up, both hot and cold. So this means that these modules not only start mis-firing when they are about to die, there may also be sign...

Looks like I missed anothe wonderful Canby Opportunity again. I commited to another even on this weekend months ago without checking what weekend Canby was.... Next year! Really sorry I missed the Morton man. Haven't seen him since 2013 at the SCCA run offs. Byron, I totally agree with the "old...

Electronic (EI) Ignition module failure. Recovery mode and trouble shooting

Over the weekend I took my 510 on a jaunt to Revelstoke and back. Other the crappy rainy weather, +3C temps in Golden, and the closed highway 1 west of Revelstoke, the trip was mechanically uneventful except for one timy little item. Spark. Spark was there 99.9% of the time, but the other 0.1% of th...

Re: Post a pic of your Dime.

Trying something different this weekend. Signed up with a buddy to enter something (boon doggle?) called the "Royal Rally" IMG_2745.JPG It's kind of a scavenger hunt for rich folks as most of the cars are exotics and fancy ass dolled up BMW's and the like. I think it's a dang excuse for th...
