Re: 1971 2 Door, L16 --> 2.1 Long Rod --> SR20VE

Torque plate seems like seems like a gimmick to me. Such a simple parts for a ton of money. Wish I would have thought of it! Yeah for a chunk of aluminum with some holes machined into it the prices are pretty crazy. The SR guys swear by them though, say there's some pretty substantial cylinder dist...

Re: 1971 2 Door, L16 --> 2.1 Long Rod --> SR20VE

Well progress has been slow lately because of work / other projects and because i kept telling myself there must be a better way to bore my block besides buying a $700 torque plate i'd use once. Eventually made a post on a 240sx forum discussing the necessity of using one for my application and had ...

Re: Q35DE

Anyone using a Q35DE in their 510 If you're referring to the VQ35de out of the 350z, q35, maxima etc (not being an ass just not sure if thats what you mean) there are some people who have done it but the modifications are very extensive and it's my personal belief that it's not worth it unless you ...

Re: 1971 2 Door, L16 --> 2.1 Long Rod --> SR20VE

Started cleaning up the engine bay in prep for the SR, stripping everything down and eventually painting it. Guess there will be one good looking part of the car haha https://vgy.me/b9IzA7.jpeg Had to coat everything in oven cleaner to try and get the grime off, 46 years of oil and dirt sure don't w...

Got the head off the VE finally, been preoccupied building some other engines too. Have to get this thing to the machine shop now for the new pistons. https://vgy.me/3CrPfq.jpg https://vgy.me/VNO4kI.jpg Tiny little garage has 4 different engines torn apart in it now lol https://vgy.me/cXXDOO.jpg

Byron

Uses Hardbody spindles, hubs, brakes and QA1 coilovers. With the spindles can make use of beltech's drop version too.

Wish I had that kind of money haha, but sticking with a conventional piston engine

Re: 1974 Datsun 620 With A Twist

Well this has kind of gone on the back burner since I'm doing the SR20ve swap in the 510 but had a huge part of the build arrive. Beebani's full front end conversion that changes out the kingpins and torsen bars for balljoints and coilovers. This will give me the room I need to run the exhaust on th...

Re: 1971 2 Door 70s build

Not a ton of progress since i've been sick the past week. The 2.1 is totally unhooked just need to take out the driveshaft and trans crossmember then can pull everything. Once that's done i'm taking the car to get the drivers floor touched up, it's not rotten but there's a couple pinholes and want t...

Re: 1971 2 Door 70s build

Me and Sam are doing the same build. I find it weird that the VE motor which rev's higher doesn't have a fully counter weighted crank but the lower reving DET's do. Makes me wonder if it's really needed. Cool! Didn't know anyone else was doing it aswell. I hear ya, I believe the sr16ve has a fully ...

Re: 1971 2 Door 70s build

Finally got the DE down to a bare block. Crank looks good thankfully, main caps have a little wear so going to have to see what the machine shop says about that.

Going to crack open the VE soon once I get the garage cleaned up abit haha

Re: 1971 2 Door 70s build

I'am also planning an SR20DE swap. Which JDM shop did you get them from and what did you pay for it if you don't mind? I went last week to look for a set of wheels and started asking for engine deals. They pretty much all told me it's hard to find a SR20DE these days in Japan... It was $900 from En...
