Re: Another 72 510

WOW, very nice work. I can see how mine looks familiar to yours now and I am feeling better about getting things.

Re: Nissan Bluebird Coupe (JCCA Race Car)

I would have thought there would be places that rebuild drag links in the UK? I had mine rebuilt here in NZ in a couple of days. They convert to the non-drilled type of joint so you have to run nylocs but that's no biggie. Yes, valid point. I didn't even think about that. Thanks I'll look into it. ...

Re: Nissan Bluebird Coupe (JCCA Race Car)

Did you do any dyno pulls before and after? Curious to how (if any) restrictive the mesh are vs none or filters. As it's coming to the end of the year, my employer are telling me to take leave, or lose it (we get a good amount over here in the UK) so I've had a couple day off this week to work on th...

Re: Nissan Bluebird Coupe (JCCA Race Car)

Plenty of opinions on this, but I was never going to run the car with air filters. I go to a lot of historical racing here in Europe and no one seems to fun filters and pictures I've seen of my car when it used to run and the original SCCN Bluebirds didn't run filters either. That being said, I foun...

Re: Nissan Bluebird Coupe (JCCA Race Car)

There’s two schools of though on the crossmember hope. Solid mount the exhaust to the X-memeber with the ability to flex at least on the engine side, or enlarge the hole to 3 1/4” ID or better and attach amount. The former is generally a race set up as skip fits are utilized and there’s no hardware...

Re: Nissan Bluebird Coupe (JCCA Race Car)

So these came out far too easy. I was expecting to have to burn them out, but a little bit of WD40, a large flat head and a few hits with a hammer and they were out in under a minute. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1959/43059754730_e0f366b9e7_k.jpg Untitled by Kieron Ash , on Flickr Which makes me q...

Re: Nissan Bluebird Coupe (JCCA Race Car)

Both my brackets and the slotting of the crossmember require some ability to move the pivot axis in different directions realities to each other. I have heard guys say they have used poly bushing me with my brackets successfully, but I would not suggest it. Actually the stock rubber bushing work fi...

if you were close to me in Vancouver you'd be past the $10 million mark.
That in great British pounds easy over here. I need to move! Lovely looking place you have.

Re: Nissan Bluebird Coupe (JCCA Race Car)

If just the inner rear LCA mounts have been modified, my camber/toe adjusting brackets would work perfect for you as my brackets replace the entire inner mount. Shipped a number of these to Europe already. If interested - let me know. Byron The slotted crossmember is a pretty common mod, it's not a...

Re: Nissan Bluebird Coupe (JCCA Race Car)

Another part I forgot I had, a new water pump. Different from the one that was in there, but it's a lot less rusty. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1793/28932527467_bf7c6bf990_k.jpg Untitled by Kieron Ash , on Flickr https://farm1.staticflickr.com/853/42964722485_80eab056ac_k.jpg Untitled by Kieron A...

Re: Nissan Bluebird Coupe (JCCA Race Car)

I pulled off the rear crossmember as it needs new bushes and it's pretty cruddy and could use a wire wheel and some paint. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1882/30849891738_339ba40771_k.jpg Untitled by Kieron Ash , on Flickr https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1842/30849891888_e57c7d231b_k.jpg Untitled by ...

Re: Nissan Bluebird Coupe (JCCA Race Car)

It doesn't feel like much has progressed since my last update. I've almost cut out all the rust from that side of the car, there's not much car left! Wondering how much bracing was in the rear arches/inner arches as I never expected to remove them and didn't brace it before. Anyway. Few pictures of ...

With what you are re-building I would be shooting for a much "shorter" gear to really help acceleration, 4:11, 4:3, etc.
I have no idea how much HP/Torque the L18 will make, it'll be interesting to eventually find out.

Enough broken old Subarus over this way, I'll have a look around. Thanks.
