Re: Shorter valve length?

When I had the machine shop do the repair on the U67 head, I had them replace all the seats to match up with those of the 280z valves. It has been over a year ago and I think I had them install the 8000SG (46mm intake) and 8002SG (38mm exhaust) valves. I need to double check that however. The shop a...

Re: Shorter valve length?

When I rebuilt my U67 head because one of the brass seats fell out, I had the machine shop replace all the seats with steel and at the same time, machine the pockets to accept the larger 280Z 44mm intake valve seats. All resulting in the correct protrusion of the valve stem once all was ground and l...

Re: what happened to the banner photo?

For the banner photo, I think rotating vehicle pictures would be great. Maybe a new picture every week/ 2 weeks/ month?

Here is mine if you want to start with it.

^^^^
Good point.
As I do plan to replace the transmission with a close-ratio '83 ZX 5-speed, I will then have a chance to double check the drive shaft angles and make adjustments as needed.

Re: Jeff's '70 2 Door

I had a similar situation with engine mounts. The engine mounts on my L20B were worn and so I decided to replace them. I ordered new L20B mounts from Nissan, installed them but the top of the engine would hit the hood. So, I ordered new mounts for the L16 (they are shorter) and installed them. Now t...

Re: FS5W71B Swap Issues

If I remember correctly, you have to use the throw-out bearing and collar from the FS5W71B. There are several different throw-out bearing collars depending on the flywheel/clutch diameter. So the clutch/pressure plate/throw-out bearing and collar should be for the FS5W71B. Anyone? Please chime in. M...

Re: Trouble with dual 40

I would suggest: remove and plug the vacuum advance on the one carb. I am not running any vacuum advance, only the mechanical advance in the distributor which is the electronic distributor. I am not running any engine block ventilation into the Cannon manifold. go to this URL and try the jetting I u...

MikeY: Maybe if you ordered direct from Pilkington the cost would be less? Give it a try. Send your request to Classics@pilkington.com and see what happens.

Re: Wiring harness

Switching a ground is really a good thing compared to switching power. Switching a ground instead of power is used in the aircraft industry. First, the chassis of the Datsun (and aircraft) is the negative ground. For switching a ground in a negatively grounded system: If the switch were to short, th...

Re: Pilkington Windshields - Easy and new Availability

I just did receive a couple 510 windshields from Pilkington. Blue tint. They were ordered from Pilkington website via the classics email address Classics@pilkington.com Made in England and delivered to a local Pilkington shop. Total cost for 2 windshields was 722.33 USD. It took a while but they did...
