Re: OCTOBERFAST 2016

Id say I have a 50% chance of coming pending the day. Need to firm up some plans for another day trip the same weekend. It would be great to get out and meet some Datsun Folk. After a year of Engine rebuild headache, I'm finally 300km Into my break in, and this would be a great way to get a few more...

Re: All Japanese Show & Shine this Sunday June 26 in Victoria BC - WHO'S GOING?

I'll be showing up for this one. If I had a few more hours I'd get my 240z going, but it will be good see some other classics.

Re: DCOE Jet's - 240z

Great tips. Those books are certainly making their way to my bookshelf. I was hoping someone with a few hundred dollars in jets hanging around may want to get rid of their stash, or lend it out. For now i'm researching DIY home zinc plating as the carbs are pretty rough. They should be a fun project...

Re: DCOE Jet's - 240z

Oh really. I will most likely need larger. The carbs were previously on an L24, and now into my cammed L28.

DCOE Jet's - 240z

Hello Everyone, I'm picking up a set of triple webers. Previous posts suggest the most cost effective solution to tuning these is bring it to a shop with a dyno and a large selection of jets! The DIY, would buy a bunch of jets and read their plugs when in different ranges of driving. I have a wideba...

Re: Victoria Machine Shop

I honestly don't know if they were 3 or 5. I'd assume with a 5, you have to be careful you don't take off too much material when lapping?

Re: Victoria Machine Shop

Mike, Ended up ordering another valve. Since the seats are new, with a fresh grind and about 30 mins of run time on the engine would a standard lapping by hand be correct? From the looks of it, it seems like I can do that myself.

Re: Victoria Machine Shop

Thanks Mike. I'm a big DIY'er as well. I was building the engine on my own, before I shipped off the head for some serious port work after I attempted it myself. I now have enough invested into this thing that I don't want to risk it. Brand new valves, guides and seats all around. With the amount of...

Re: Flying in to Vancouver on the 24th with my MTB - anyone want to show me around the North Shore?

I completely missed this but if your back in the area i'd certainly offer a guide. I just got back into riding after 10 years out of the sport and now sporting my first dual suspension. A nice slack head tube on a hardtail and 5" in the front is all you "Need". It's how we use to do i...

Victoria Machine Shop

I did a search on this, and the only thing I came up with was stay away from J & B. I have a head which was completely worked over with Whitehead Performance in Ontario. Upon installation of the head, due to a cam timing error a valve made very slight contact with a piston. Everything looks fine...

Re: Vancouver Nissan Dealer

I tried southside today, and asked if anyone was knowledgeable with the old Datsun's. He replied saying that guy left years ago. So I went to Glen, and he figured it all out for me. Cheers guys.

Re: Vancouver Nissan Dealer

Thanks. I was directed towards Southside once before, but I completely forgot the mans name. I want to say it was Roy, but i'm not sure. I guess i'll just give them a call anyhow and see if they can help.

Thanks guys.

Vancouver Nissan Dealer

Hello all, I haven't had much luck finding a dealer which is easy to work with when trying to track down parts for the old L series. In particular, i'm looking for flywheel bolts, rear main seal and, while I'm at it clutch cover bolts (L28). I'm sure there is some other odds and ends I still require...

Re: New Vancouver Member - 240z

Yup. You nailed it. Dave at hi perf was great to talk to on the phone. I would have really liked to have brought it to him for from my first experience over the phone but I have a bunch of time to tinker at the end of august. Unfortunately they pick some prime time vacation (great for them!). Randy ...
