Re: Noob build

It sticks into it about 10", but I don't think it's the end of the world for having your passenger not kick it since it's tucked up pretty good. You can rest your foot behind it and I don't think it is really in the way to a detrimental effect. I evaluated it from measurements and knew it wouldn't b...

Re: Noob build

Well it's been a while again, just haven't found much time lately but that should change... famous last words. Finally got the AC compressor in, man it's tight. Had to remove material from one of the unused mounts. Used the stock 240SX bracket so I could use its tensioner. The condensor is also in, ...

Re: Noob build

How much does a system like this cost for the 510? My heater core is in pretty bad shape and needs a complete rebuild by a professional shop. The vintage air system sounds like a good alternative. It was 1300 US for the complete kit, includes all AC lines, fittings, compressor, evaporator, brackets...

Re: Noob build

Thanks Byron. Just want to get it all in the car to see what it looks like... But before that, the vintage air system came in. I went with the Compac over the Mini, they are marginally different in size but apparently the compac's performance is noticeably superior. So this is it mounted, not much t...

Re: Noob build

Well it's been a month or so, bought a truck and shuffled some other stuff so not much time for the 510. Getting back into it now, finally got around to some little things that needed to get done before wiring - namely the stereo and wiper mounting. Exhaust, brakes and fuel system are fully reconnec...

Re: Noob build

Been a while since I've seen a black 510. So you planning on making the All Japanese Classic in North Vancouver this year? Looks like you are well on your way. Byron Absolutely! Come hell or high water the plan is to get it done by the end of May, then mess around with getting it through ICBC just ...

Re: Noob build

For the first time since September she's sitting on wheels again.

Just plugging away at bolting things back on, waiting for some hoses from Nissan and the header to be ceramic coated.

Re: Noob build

Bolted the underside back together and just finished tucking the harness, engine going back in tonight. Lots of hours spent without much to show for it, but it's done :)

Re: Noob build

Is the Lizard skin sound deadener wear resistant? I really like how it looks and it might help to hide the little imperfections on my floor pans. I don't plan on putting a carpet back into mine. Yeah it's pretty good, looks pretty scratch resistant and dries very hard. I covered it with the heat in...

Re: Noob build

Also, what you see there is a gallon for both sound deadener and heat protection. I had to go thinner to get two coats everywhere, so if you're doing the trunk then go for 2 gallons for each product you want to use.

Re: Noob build

I'm in Qualicum and just about at the stage where I have to do something to the floors. Where did you buy the lizard skin and would you rent or sell the spray gun. Both seem a little expensive on Amazon. And how much did you use. Thanks I bought it all from Jegs and had it shipped to my mailbox in ...

Re: Noob build

Did you buy the spray kit for the Lizard skin or how did you install it looks great ice D I bought their spray kit, it's not identical to an undercoating gun but works the same way. I was tempted to spray it with a regular 20 dollar gun but decided to play it safe. It recommends a tip pressure of 5...

Re: Noob build

Did some cleaning of the intake manifold, the inside was full of black crust from the EGR. Cleaned it all out, sandblasted and powder coated everything. Getting replacement hoses for a 240SX is proving more difficult than I had hoped, fingers crossed they have stock in the US. IMG_1332.jpg IMG_1339....

Re: Noob build

Lizard skin sound deadener on the inside, it sprays pretty nice and the ceramic heat insulation will follow tonight. The true test will come when it's driving around.
