I might at later once the undercoating has cured, I don't think that it would have bonded properly had I done it now.

Re: Noob build

looking good. not painting the wheel wells ? Wheel wells were epoxy primed and then undercoated already.. since I want this to be a daily driver I figured undercoating would be the better choice in the wheel wells. So far the stuff still hasn't cured fully and I sprayed it in November I think, I us...

Re: Noob build

Good Going. i may have missed the explanation, but what are the short pieces of square tubing welded on just below the left headlight mounting? Sad story, but it was in a crash so the drivers side is recessed by 1/2" from the passenger side. There is a gap between the front fender to the top c...

Re: Noob build

looking back http://www.the510realm.com/download/file.php?id=41949 http://www.the510realm.com/download/file.php?id=43632 I would make that exhaust bump bigger before paint. maybe clamp a piece of wood and work at it gently with a big hole saw. I only say this because my exhaust is just rubbing at i...

Sanding, sanding, sanding... awesome.

Finally got it 90% done, welded in the fan supports and should be ready to spray epoxy & high build this weekend.

Re: Noob build

Scraping paint is a wonderful time... The car was red, then blue and finally black. The blue painter didn't scuff anything in the door jams and in some spots, like the roof, the black cracks off with a screw driver. So I scraped for a few days to get it all off and followed up with sanding and a bit...

Will do, that's the next step.

Re: Noob build

Sounds exactly like this stuff from Eastwood. It goes on like paint which allows it to seep into all those you want it to go places then dries to a self healing film. anti-rust.jpg Look at a product like this: https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4513/38090869332_9e31f7b364_c.jpg https://www.kbs-coatings....

Re: Noob build

Welding will simply bubble the POR-15 and expose raw metal for a fresh coast of rust. I'd recommend going back in through the back side and adding a fresh coat in those areas. For sure, it's the joints that are not accessible with the paint brush that I'm wondering about. The weld at the underside ...

Re: Noob build

And it is done, coated the inside of the joints with POR-15. It will be a challenge to touch it up in the weld areas... any recommendations?

Pro Form Undercoat - sprayed it with an undercoating gun at 80PSI and roughly 75 ft. of air hose.

Re: Noob build

"This thing is pretty much rust free" ... Famous last words. Well a few bubbles in front of the rear wheel arches have turned into another fun exercise. Glad this was found with the car still on the rotisserie, got the passenger side inner rocker done yesterday. POR-15'd the inside before ...
