farm implement enamel paint

Now there's an interesting thought, I'm building mine to be driven anytime anywhere and have the same desire for durability - are you limited in color choices or can you do at least a reasonably wide spectrum of choices? Not everything looks right in JD green :-)

Re: Project 635 - 300HP RWD 620

Heaven forbid - don't paint the exterior with bedliner - I've seen that enough times on oil patch trucks and it looks awful.

Re: 620 KC project

Radiator is now installed after converting a regular "puller" fan assembly into a "pusher" noting the fan blades are scalloped to maximize efficiency and conversion is more complex than simply reversing motor rotation. IMG_8003.jpg The radiator I'm using is wider and shorter than...

Re: 620 KC project

Not posting much of my build on this forum, mostly on Ratsun if you're interested. Have sorted the steering column install and fabbed up mounts to secure it though the firewall, noting the 720 column used a very different mounting plate at firewall and at dash. IMG_7859.jpg Brake master also very di...

Re: 620 KC project

About time for an update here, I've been plugging away during what little free time I've had and presently have the cab fitted to the frame for another test fit. Found a few spots where I have some contact issues which will be addressed shortly. All the structural repairs are completed, the cab has ...

Re: Project 635 - 300HP RWD 620

Thanks for sharing about your welding setup. I have a Lincoln Mig-pak 180 which is essentially the same unit, has 5 voltage settings (A-E) with 180 amp output max and runs on 240VAC. I still am struggling to find the settings that work best for me, grew up doing stick welding on structural steel but...

Re: Project 635 - 300HP RWD 620

Speaking of your old Lincoln welder, I'm curious what settings you found favorable when welding the thin (sometimes porous) sheetmetal.

Re: 620 KC project

Work has been very busy these past months, and combined with the heat wave I haven't been getting many hours in the garage. Progress does continue however at a slower pace. I have moved on to the repairs to the cowl ends and ATM have only finish welding to do on the L side, then it's time to do the ...

Re: 620 KC project

Thanks Ryan. Well "no more major work ahead" was overly optimistic, as while modifying the L inner fender for PS clearance, the rusty rad support frame mount decided to shit the bed, so I have now built and installed new mounts for both. All 6 cab mounts are now new. After completing those...

Cab will sit about 4" lower than this.
Still need to do about a dozen smaller repairs, but no more major repair work ahead :D

Re: Project 635 - 300HP RWD 620

I'm in agreement with sometimes needing to bounce to a different part of the build just to allow for some focus adjustment, getting hung up on something that isn't going well can lead to an unfinished project.

I look forward to more updates

Re: Project 635 - 300HP RWD 620

Try to fit up a Heim joint or similar onto the steering shafts to keep everything positioned - with so many U-joints there is potential for unexpected shaft movement resulting in binding linkage - and you don't want that happening!

Re: Favorite Roads

The old pass East of Golden was so entertaining - steep with tight corners. Any bits of that accessible anymore?

Re: Project 635 - 300HP RWD 620

That's hidden pretty well but based on location I'd say that's your steering box. A means of modifying the steering gear to fit within the space? How is it connected underneath?
