Re: USA to Western Australia my two door 510 build

The original rims used on the car are r32 gist rims, 16x6.5 +40. They are straight bolt up, i.e on spacers required. I’ve since moved on to a set of Works rims.

Re: USA to Western Australia my two door 510 build

Hi Gents, Thank you for the compliments regarding the build. I was going for a slightly understated look so as to not to attract any unwanted attention from the police down here. Having said that I like purposeful modifications and functional additions opposed to things like, blinged out engine bays...

Re: USA to Western Australia my two door 510 build

It then went off to the turners, to ensure everything was running as it should, air/fuel ratios etc. Removed the electronic boost controller and just tuned it up with the spring pressure from the actuator. After final tuning the car generated 250hp at the wheels, with boost pressure being set at 10p...

Re: USA to Western Australia my two door 510 build

trying to catch up to the where the car stands now. Once the head was rebuilt and the motor was put back together, it went straight into the car. Went through the normal processes of building up oil pressure and priming fuel. Then with one more turn of the key the car started first time no dramas. B...

Re: USA to Western Australia my two door 510 build

Basically to cut a very long story short, the valve seats were not cut properly. At TDC you could see full moon circles around the edge of the valves. absolute balls up. In the end I just got on with fixing the issues. Lots more dollars spent including some drop in cams and the replacement of all th...

So started the process of removing the motor once again to determine what was going on internally.

Re: USA to Western Australia my two door 510 build

So there has been plenty of dramas and issues to work through along the way. The biggest, when we went to start the car for the first time, it didn't sound right - effectively like some kind of air pump. After checking everything fuel, spark blah blah twice or three times, I did a leak down test res...

Re: USA to Western Australia my two door 510 build

Some of the details going into the car. Rather than using a 50 year old piece of plastic for the heater box cover, I got a front cover made up out of steel, with some counter sunk holes. Installed an electronic boost controller, which is attached by Velcro, so it can be hidden away. Lastly all the d...
