Re: 68 Wagon for sale

Nice wagon here! Gotta be kinda rare, '68 goon with what looks like original paint? Side marker lights there, rocker trim there...

Re: '72 4 door, Tweety Bird

Cool pics, thanks. We did pull the plugs a few times and I'll be doing that again to monitor things. It was cool to see them go from black to more grey and without all the mess on them.

Re: pertronix and fried spark plugs?

Three B's, you are right. See my thread in the project builds for an update on that and some changes made to the car last weekend that yielded probably another 20 HP on the car.

Re: '72 4 door, Tweety Bird

Long time since I wrote anything on the project build thread. I had some sparking problems last fall and this spring that I wrote about over on the powertrain forum and I'll update that also. I don't drive the car that much since moving to CO mainly because I'm not running the road rallies I was in ...

Re: pertronix and fried spark plugs?

Ok, waking this thread up again to close the loop for future info seekers. First, I'm sorry, but I failed to get a vid of the magical plug firing in mid air! Believe it or not, it happened. I got too wrapped up in getting the project done to think about documenting it. Just like it used to be I gues...

Re: red dime on BAT- showing L series is still Loved!

I am not surprised by the price. This car is really well done. 240hp? Sweet mother of Jesus. This thing must be fast. I love the attention to detail with the original parking brake system retained, the watanabes, e21 seats, etc. The presentation is also outstanding with over 200 professional quality...

Re: pertronix and fried spark plugs?

With the plug connected to the spark plug wire but not grounded anywhere, it will spark in the gap with a big, bright spark, that looks right, when the car is cranked over with the starter motor. When the plug is then grounded by contacting engine or the car body, it looses spark or spark becomes ve...

pertronix and fried spark plugs?

Have any of you guys had issues running pertronix ignition and it frying spark plugs? I've got and LZ22 with an L16 diz in my car. I've been running pertronix for years in there with no issues until recently. The car became harder and harder to cold start. I pulled a plug, and when the plug is conta...

Re: moved back to CO, time to raise Tweety back up

Yes, Durango. Its been a good move. I keep encountering great looking dirt all over the place; its pretty vast in this part of the state. Whenever I'm with my wife in the 510 now, she's like "lets put the 510 back up where your 510 was in college. Set it up for CO!" That was 1990 and we dr...

Re: moved back to CO, time to raise Tweety back up

Thanks for the spring recs. I hadn't gotten as far as shopping for the tires yet but I was probably gonna do a 185/60/14 or 185/70/14 snow tire or maybe an all season radial on my VTO (Futofab) Libre replicas, which are 14x6. If you wanted narrower than that, I'd guess you could fit a 175/70 on ther...

moved back to CO, time to raise Tweety back up

Hi all, Been a while. I moved from CA where I had my 510 setup fairly low and softish with Suspension techniques springs in front and cut front roadster springs in back over Tokico Blue's, stock front sway bar, no sway bar in back, front camber -1 with stock spring hats and old school camber plates,...

Re: 1971 Datsun 1600 SSS For Sale (not mine)

I agree with Byron. I found this thing very interesting and cool. The euro interior is sweet, I wonder if that is stock over there? The SSS kit is cool with the carbs, and the A87 head (could be a peanut head, maybe not, I've heard of both types of combustion chambers stamped as A87). More than anyt...

Wow, I'm surprised to see you selling this. Massive respect for an incredible, inspiring build. Good luck with whatever the next project or chapter is for you after the sale. I think BaT is a good place to sell a car this nice.
