Re: CV Failure

Actually I responded to Matt's "Looks like Troy needs to redesign the adapters for containing the grease" if this isn't saying "Blaming" Troy's adapters when my issue was grease escaping and ruining a Single CV, then I don't know what is. Not here to start arguments guys, I just ...

Drop me a line, I may have something for you.

NICE!!
Byron, keep me in the loop as I'm interested in their front rear glass seals.

Re: CV Failure

Looks like Troy needs to redesign the adapters for containing the grease. I will be making adjustments to my adapters, but I hardly sell any DIY adapters anymore. I never blamed Troy for anything nor should you, as I believe my CV failure being One CV, was due to one of two things as I mentioned or...

Re: Door Lock Issue

What Byron said and is why it's important to use good lube on all those moving parts. I'd have a look and make sure nothing got bent but first I'd spray some graphite in the lock itself as it can simply be jammed up some due to moisture.

Re: Shawn’s ‘72 Driver

Byron, I once had the exact same issue and it turned out to be the CMC. It's seals deteriated rather quickly do to incorrect cheap seals the brake fluid ate away at. It's a crap shoot when buying these things.

Dang! Sorry to hear about those fires. Cali is burning also as it does every year, and like bertvorgon says "do not throw anything out the window, no matter where you are!!! So true. Here in NH were surrounded by bush, brush and trees and I see smokers constantly tossing out hot cigarettes and ...

Re: CV Failure

Why are grease fittings on cvs a good thing? Read an FSM... there's a specified amount of grease that should be in the boots and when they don't leak if sealed properly. Case in point as mentioned by chickenman. I would not be regreasing CVs even if they had zerks. Too much grease and it'll squeeze...

CV_1341.jpg Adap_1342.jpg Troy's and Futofab kits are good kits don't get me wrong. The point I was making is about the suggested yearly maintenance from Troy which like I said seemed crazy when you think about CVs on cars that stay put for 10's of thousands of miles plus I'm not about to spend the...

CV Failure

So I've had CV axles in my 510 for 3 years 18k miles and had the drivers side inner CV fail on me driving back from Candy due to lube had been getting tossed out from between the boot and CV over this period of time on the 510. I asked Troy about the failure and he recommended you service them yearl...

I've been busy since the Canby show but wanted to say what a great job Steve and crew did. Really sorry about Lou's accident. Also want to give thumbs up for the excellent videos that have been posted. Kudos all around. In case someone's missed it, this one's stellar. https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

Exactly what I was going to suggest. I've had one of those for about 12 years now and it sure pistol whips the plastic POS.

Re: Molasses for rust removal

I got some molasses and some vinegar today and I am going to try to free up my wipers which are seized. ice D Heat and penetraiting oil is really all you need and is what I used in `96 as my wipers were also seized. Today they are great, when I grease them I apply a bit of heat then touch grease to...
